Too difficult for beginner level

I've decided to move my students to a different platform to learn Python. I think that the Red Hat learning material is too much of a steep learning curve for beginners.

@kov1 Appreciate your feedback. Could you please give me a detailed feedback about what made you decide that way. Also, if you can give me some idea about what changes you would like to see or which topics you find were too difficult for beginners or which topics you would like to modify or any lab exercise which you would like to modify - this will help us restructure the course in future.

Hi Chetan,

The fact that Classes are covered in Chapter 6 of Red Hat is an indicator of the steep learning curve. I would expect this to be covered later. The examples provided were often very smart pieces of code, but at times quite complex and it would take myself and students time to work them out.

We often reverted to putting the examples into AI to have it break down every step of the code to learn it that way.

I have no doubt the author of the material is very good at Python programming, but I suggest that it may be a long time since they approached programming for the first time.

As back up to the Red Hat content, we used the text book 'Python Crash Course' by Eric Matthes.  By Week 6, we moved to the text book as the main source, as students found it more straightforward to grasp the concepts.

Hello kov1,

Does your program require students for a Python course to have any programming knowledge - maybe having completed the equivalent of a programming 101 course?

Hi Trevor,

I took it that the 'There are no prerequisites for this course' in the Introduction, meant that this was a beginner / 'programming 101' course.
