currently there are three different versions available when registering for the Exam:
What are the exact differences of these Exam versions ?
They seem to be based on RHEL 8, RHEL 8.4 and RHEL9 respectively, but what other differences are to be expected ? Is the Ansible version used in the three Exam versions also different ?
The official Exam objectives do not mention anything about the different Exam versions:
So does that mean the objectives are identical no matter which Exam Version I choose ?
Hi @Tooms ,
I hope you're fine.
Unfortunately, I cannot provide so much details information surrounded by the Red Hat exams environment.
But the main difference between the version of the exams is the version of the product(RHEL and Ansible) and objectives.
I strongly recommend you send an email to email@example.com If you have any further queries regarding the objectives.
@bzaman That's true and one of the reasons I was submitting this question, as I was wondering that no detailed information seems to be available on the offical Training and Certification Website.
However, when you are scheduling the Exam you currently get to choose between these three versions.
When I started studying for my EX294 exam, I printed a copy of the objectives. I've followed it through for my study. Since it's getting closer to my exam date, yesterday I thought I would check the objectives online again and found that the objectives (https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training/ex294-red-hat-certified-engineer-rhce-exam-red-hat-enter...) have been updated. They now include a section on "Run playbooks with Automation content navigator". I had never heard of "Automation content navigator" before as it was not in my RH294 course that I did last year.
Checking the RH294 course details, it has no mention of "Automation content navigator" https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training/rh294-red-hat-linux-automation-with-ansible?section=Outl... The exam I've booked is the EX294V84K exam, but unfortunately, I can't see the objectives specific for this version of the exam - only the objectives for EX294. Is the "Run playbooks with Automation content navigator" objective in the EX294V84K exam?
Automation content navigator is the ansible-navigator command and it's only covered in the RHEL 9 / Ansible Automation Platform 2.2 version of RH294/EX294. If you're taking the RHEL 8.4 / Ansible Automation Platform 1.2 (Ansible 2.9) version of the course, then you don't have to worry about that.
I had a chat with one of the certification team members about this yesterday, and I think that part of the trouble is that they've recently started switching to "versionless SKUs", where you purchase EX294 (not EX294V84K) and then when you schedule you select the 8.4 kiosk exam instead of the 9.0 kiosk exam. So the descriptions on the web site are a bit of a mess right now.
You might try reaching out to the certification team to provide feedback and ask for the correct objectives:
You can also provide general feedback on the web site to our training team at:
If you have booked EX294V84K then no need to worry about EX294V84K Automation content navigator as this is expected to be the part of EX294v9, EX294V84K is based on Ansible Automation platform 1.1 on rhel8.4 i went through RH294v84 course is almost same like RH294v8 except the Introduction of Ansible Automation Platform.
As for writing my post RH294v9 is available its based on Ansible Automation Platform 2.2 and RHEL9.
Thanks Badi. Is there anything "official" or in writing from Red Hat which shows the exam objectives for EX294V84K? At the moment, all I know it's an assumption (i'm not sure if you work for Red Hat or not and know this officially) that the current objectives which are currently listed for the EX294 exam (https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training/ex294-red-hat-certified-engineer-rhce-exam-red-hat-enter...) are for EX294v9 only.
I'm going to book my EX294 exam and I only can take V84K and V9. You said V84K is based on Automation Platform 1.1 and I want to ask you: what's is included about Automation Platform (install, configure, etc) and if the exam is similar a previous versions like V83K with console or everything is with Automation Platform.
