Jinja2 "if elif" as replacement for Ansible "when"

Hi,

I am starting to use Jinja2  "if elif endif" more and more as a replacement for Ansible "when"  as it cuts down on typing same code again and again.

Is there some preference in Ansible exams that we have to use Ansible "when" rather than Jinja2  "if elif endif"  for conditionals.
