One thing that you can try is if you're in an interview and turned down for a position due to lack of experience, ask if they've got recommendations for what sort of jobs they'd like to see as experience for a successful applicant. Then you can check those sorts of job listings out as well. Worst case, they don't have a useful answer, and that's no loss compared to not asking at all.
