DO180 Lab: Log-in to workstation

Jump to solution

Hi! I am stuck at setting up my lab environment for the DO180 course. On pages 19/20 of the lab manual I should log into the workstation, open a terminal and issue the lab-configure command. When I click "OPEN CONSOLE" at the Lab Environment page, I get a GNOME desktop and a "Student User" to log in to. With the password on the Lab Environment page the login fails. Also when I try to log in with the username and password provided there. Any idea what the password for the "Student User" might be? Cheers,Matt

Hi Matt.

The password for the student user should always be "student" (no quotes). Don't use the value of `RHT_OCP4_DEV_PASSWORD` because that is for the cluster itself.

Hope that helps.

David

Thank you, David!

Is this described somewhere and did I just overlook it or is this information missing completely in the documents?

Cheers, Matthias

Hi Matthias.

If you look at the section "Orientation to the Classroom Environment" in the Introduction you should see the following para:

"All student computer systems have a standard user account, student, which has the password
student. The root password on all student systems is redhat."

Hope this helps~!

I have passed this line at least five times :)

Sometimes you don't see the sun even if it's shining.

Thank you!!
