EX 316 Expectations

Hi all,

i finished DO316 and am waiting for the EX316 but as this course differs a lot from previous certifications i did i'm not quite sure what the expectations are.

Of course i know you can't discuss Exam contents and i don't want to know what exactly is in the exam but for the sake of understandability i would like to PRETEND that two questions i saw in the review were in the exam so it becoms clear what my questions are.

1) In the Backup/Restore review the OADP opeartor is already installed and fully configured so i can just start creating a backup. So if that was a question in the exam could i expect to have the surrounding systems, like OADP to be working or is it also required to install/prepare them even if it was not part of DO316?

2) There were a lot of reviews where yaml stubs were provided which for the most part puzzled me, is that the same in the exam? E.g. if I need to add a watchdog to a VM will there be a stub to use or do i need to remember the yaml scheme? I'm mostly asking because i would create e.g. a health probe in the webui by adding it to a dummy deployment and copy it to make sure i have no typos but then of course some parameters could be different, e.g. in the course at one point only the failureThreshold and the period were given but stuff like the initial delay and the success threshold were not so it may differ from the stubs provided by the lab script which would be a dumb way to loose points.

All in all this course seemed rather shallow to me as it covers a lot of topics but only scratches on the top so on the one hand to me it looks like you already need to be an OCP expert to understand why you should do things certain ways but on the other hand easy tasks like creating a Rolebinding or a Service are explained in detail.

Thanks in advance for clarification.

@Stockmann I will give my perspective without violating the NDA :

1. The course is not shallow as per my understanding as it is a comprehensive guide about how to equips learners with the necessary skills to create, manage, and access virtual machines (VMs) within OpenShift clusters. It emphasizes leveraging Kubernetes features for resource management, enabling control over CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources for VMs, similar to how these resources are managed for containers. The course explores sample architectures for achieving high availability of VMs using standard Kubernetes features and OpenShift Virtualization extensions. Furthermore, it covers strategies for connecting VMs to external data center services and provides guidance on migrating existing VMs from compatible hypervisors to OpenShift Virtualization using the Migration Toolkit for Virtualization operator.

2. As per this course link :  https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training/red-hat-certified-specialist-openshift-virtualization-ex... DO280 course or relevant experience is a prerequisite that means better to have.

3. Donot worry too much about exam tasks - the course is highly recommended and is equipped to clear this exam. Focus on exam objectives : https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training/red-hat-certified-specialist-openshift-virtualization-ex...

you will be tested mostly on the exam objectives and the course labs are a very good medium of preparation. Also, those labs give you a glimpse of what is to be expected in the exam.

I cleared the exam by preparing only from the course and I was not surprised at all.

Stockmann, you'll serve yourself well if you pay close and full
attention to Chetan's comments.

If you're "fully" comprehended the content in the DO316 course,
there's only one outcome that you can expect on exam day - PASS!!
Notice the operative word I used:  FULLY!!!

Red Hat courses are developed to prepare you for two things:
1) To perform the skills covered in the course, in a practical, real-world
       environment
2) To be successful in passing the associated exam

Note:  I listed the priority and focus of the course in the exact order!!!

Let me recommend that you take your focus off of passing the exam,
and put your focus on knowing the material as if a consulting assignment,
with a salary of $500,000 was at stake!  A consulting assignment like
that you'll have to earn, meaning you'll have to really know your stuff!!

Again, take heed to Chetan's information!!!!
