Simple typos, or not fully satisfying the criteria of an exam question would result in failure for that question.

With respect to OpenShift, if one has to create an application in the project "foo" but you accidentally create the project as "fooo" then the grading modules for that question will look for a project called "foo", and when it doesn't find it, it will fail you for the entire question. So even if you created the application in the specified way, you got the project name wrong.

Think of the exam as a SOW from a customer. The customer is paying you for work to be done according to the SOW. If you don't complete it successfully, you won't get paid. Nor should you.

The exams are created as a SOW. If you get it right, then you get the certification associated with the exam, if not ... then you get nothing.

Our exams now feature a breakdown of the objectives which helps you understand where you went wrong, and which topics to focus on should you fail and wish to retake the exam.

I beg to differ here. these exams are extremely stressful and we are expected to perform numerous tasks in a tighly packed 3 hr examination window. not to mention the associated pressure that comes along with it. with that being said, I dont this its fair to evaluate/grade a student based on a generic script that spits out a 1 or 0 as a result of grading process. in my honest opinion a proctor must be assigned for the grading and that person should be closely evluating each of these tasks considering all the factors mentioned above.  given the fact that RedHat does not give out information/ clarity on how they arrived on those numbers, as a student, I'd atleast be satisfied (or make peace ) with the fact that somebody knowledgable , invested their time to evaluate each task individually and awared the marks.

You're making a few assumptions here:

- not all exams are 3 hours in length

- there are no generic scripts using during grading

- we now publish additional information (regarding your scores) for all exams

Grading manually is inefficient, can be subjected to human error, and it doesn't scale.

Given the above, I'm curious as to how you feel that the current process is not fair, and how you feel that it  can be improved.

Yes some exams are 4 hours too (EX407) but the point here being, there are lot of taskes to be perfomed during the 3hr window. and listed below is the excerpt from your previous comment :

"With respect to OpenShift, if one has to create an application in the project "foo" but you accidentally create the project as "fooo" then the grading modules for that question will look for a project called "foo", and when it doesn't find it, it will fail you for the entire question"

this being a performance based exam, the appraoch toward each task should be evaluated rather than usaing a "generic script" that looks for a keyword

and the information that comes in the email just talks about the number of items atteempted in each cateogry, but the student would feel all those Q's were attempted and obviously somehthing did not add up. YES i know that these details are not revealed as its part of the initial agreement at the start of the exam. the approcah taken towards each task should be evalauted rather than looking for a specific keyword

"there are a lot of taskes", that's subjective. I finished EX288 with an hour to spare. If you're capable of building applications for OpenShift then you will be able to do thwe work in the alotted time.

There are no generic scripts. The grading module(s) is/are specific to the question.

I'm having a new air conditioner installed tomorrow, at a specific location in my house.

If the air conditioner is not installed at the location which I've identified, using the model which I've chosen then, I will object, and will refuse to pay the invoice until the requirements which I stated, have been met.

Our exams are SOW which the developers have created. If you want the certification then follow the instructions and do the work.

You can't expect your clients to pay you for work, when you have not satisfied the requirements of their SOW.
