What does the acronym OKD stand for?
It's not an acronym, and stay away from speculative discussions around what is could stand for. The name of the upstream, community edition of OpenShift has changed from OpenShift Origin, to OKD.
Linux Foundation trademark guidelines keep us from using the word 'kubernetes' in any project or product name and we ought to use 'OKD' as 'OKD' when we talk about the project.
We are not forsaking our origins. The repo remains openshift/origin AND the subtitle/tagline continues the 'origin' branding just more subtle: "The Origin community distribution of kuberentes'
