Will DO180 be replaced with a new or different course ?

I have been planning to take this course, not yet, but in a couple of months I hoped to take this course. The course will however be removed soon, so I was wondering if anyone knew if this course will be replaced with another updated course.

Why is this course being removed ?

Now that EX180 has been removed and DO180 appears to have been updated, which exams do you take as a systems administrator to become a Red Hat Certified Specialist in Openshift administration ? When checking the Red Hat Certified Specialist in Openshift Administration skills path it still lists the old exam EX180 which is not available.

Im not a developer so I'm not taking DO188. Im wondering about the sysadmin path for openshift.

Hi exceed,

The certification exam for OpenShift administration has always been EX280:

https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training/ex280-red-hat-certified-specialist-in-openshift-administ...

And the recommended training is DO280, for which DO180 is a pre-requisite. Objectives of EX280 include topics from both DO180 and DO280.

Hi flozano,

Well, according to the skills path listed in the Red Hat Learning Subscription platform the certification path for a Red Hat Certified Specialist in Openshift Administration says that you have to take DO180 -> EX180 -> DO280 -> EX280.

Since EX180 is no longer available, does that mean I can take DO180, DO280 and then take EX280 ?

Yes you should take DO180, DO280, and them EX280.

EX180 was never a requirement for EX280 or the Certified OpenShift Administrator certification.

EX180 was a requirement of a retired certification: "Red Hat Certified Specialist in Containers and Kubernetes exam" which is not an "administrator" certfication.

Is there any hard (must) prerequisite for taking DO180? Would novice RHEL/Linux users with some high-level familiarity in virtualization technologies be able to take it? Is Kubernetes a prerequisite?

Novice Linux users should be fine, as long as they can work on the Bash shell. As the course page says:
https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training/do180-red-hat-openshift-I-containers-kubernetes

"Experience in the use of a Linux terminal session, issuing operating system commands, and familiarity with shell scripting."

Virtualization skills are not needed, nor Kubernetes.

There was a time Red Hat advertised that a A Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification were required but we don't anymore. I think the "recomended" working on the current page is too strong.

Thank you. Somehow I managed to skip the prerequisite section of the course. Great info.
