Red Hat Training & Certification is pleased to announce the release of Red Hat OpenShift I: Containers & Kubernetes (DO180) for OpenShift Container Platform 4.10. This course introduces students to building and maintaining containers for deployment on a Kubernetes cluster. DO180 teaches the fundamentals of creating, running, and deploying containers using Red Hat technologies including Podman and OpenShift Container Platform. Students will also gain a basic understanding of Kubernetes and the added value that Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform provides.

I would like to thank all of the team members that contributed to the success of this course. Thank you to Aykut Bulgu for leading the development effort. Thank you to Shatakshi Jain, Sourabh Mishra, Zachary Gutterman, and Ravishankar Srinivasan for their hard work updating this course. Thank you to our content services group including Sam Ffrench and Heider Souza. Thank you Chetan Tiwary for providing QA testing. Thank you to Richard Allred for building and supporting the classroom environment.

Special thanks to the instructors, solutions architects, consultants, and students that provided feedback.

I have a question please - does anyone proof this course before you release it? I mean, does anyone who was not involved the production of the course actually sit down and take the course, then sit down and take the DO180 exam? If they do, did they pass it? You're thanking a lot of people for their effort but I'm wondering if any of them actually sat down and took this course from start to finish and then took the exam?

I've spoken to 3 Red Hatters, 1 RHCA and 2 RHCEs who have failed this exam a combined 8 times after taking this course within the last couple of months before they passed it. I am an RHCE and I have taken this course 3 times and failed the exam twice. I think there needs to be a bit more coordination between the course and the exam here before all the kudos are handed out.

Hi @alexajo . Members of the curriculum dev team do take (and pass) the exam. We also collaborate with the exam team on objectives.

In general, exams require practice and knowledge.

FYI, this update does not materially change the content of the course. It updates the OCP version to 4.10 and addresses issues / user feedback.

Hi  @joelbirchler i am studing the 4.6 and just finished a first read of the book.
Wondering if is better to change to 4.10 and how many changes there are in the content and labs to prepare the exam.
Thanks for yoour feedback

Hi @marcol1 . There are no major changes to the content, however we did address some minor bugs that were present in the previous version of the course. In general, the update was just about making the course compatible with version 4.10. There were not any feature differences between versions that impacted objectives at the DO180 level.

Hello, when will be ready OpenShift 4.10 version for other courses? I mean DO180 and DO288 are skill path together. @joelbirchler

DO280 and DO288 will be updated later this year. For now, it is fine to take the 4.10 course and follow it with the 4.6 course. The features that are taught at the introductory level have not changed.

EX180 exam questions are like a contract, the more you read the more never ending lines you find ,  the team has not done a good job in terms of readability, they have considered spending more time in reading and understanding questions instead of answering questions.

Instead, kudos to the team behind EX200 exam, short and easy to understand questions, straight to the point, well done!

Hi joelbirchler,

Thanks for the valueable information, is EX180 on OCP4.10 available to take. i have just passed the EX200v8k on 20th of this month, but confused about to take EX180.

can you please answer these questions.
1. EX180 on OCP 4.10, will be conducted on RHEL9 ?
2. if other than RHEL9 then which version the OCP 4.10 exam will be taken , means RHEL.2 8.4 or 8.6 ?

i have prepared OCP 4.6 , but willing to take on 4.10 on RHEL9 .

Just went into DO180 on role.rhu.redhat.com and saw this message at the top:

EX180 exam will be removed from the catalog soon

EX180 exam is being removed from Red Hat's catalog on January 1, 2023. If you are interested in taking this exam, please be sure to sign up for your exam eligibility before then. If you sign up for or currently have eligibility for this exam, you will still be able to sit for your exam, but no new eligibilities can be claimed after this date.

Is there a replacement for EX180?

@NirZilkaEX180 is the " Red Hat OpenShift I" and EX188 is "Red Hat OpenShift Developer I". What is the path for an Administrator?

By your logic, I should continue with EX288 instead of EX280.

Indeed i was wondering the same @valic

I got both certifications (180 and 188) just to be sure, but i also would like to know the path for an Administrator.

@valic currently you can get RHCA just with openshift certifications, ex180/ex188/ex280/ex288/ex380 (+RHCE). Overall they are the same for my opinion , as an openshift admin you should know how to deploy and build applications and the other basic skills that on ex180/188/288. Then, go for ex370.
