Differences DO380 OCP 4.10 and 4.14

Jump to solution

Hi,

saw that there are big differences in the content of DO380 v 4.10 and v 4.14.

Are there any plans to add the video course to v 4.14? Can only see a video course with v 4.10

And regarding the exam questions ... do the they differ a lot? Would be helpful for preparation.

Thx.

Great to see the changes landed! I'll admit, I enjoyed learning the Ansible and Jenkins form of GitOps but things have changed since the course was first released and, even when I last reviewed the course, things were looking a bit outdated. OIDC is an addition that wasn't there before and I just learned we can take groups from the OIDC user object, which is really a cool feature I wasn't distinctly aware of and need to dig deeper into the course to see if it's part of authorization or part of the group sync.

Once the course content is created, the training team will usually produce (or ask experts on the platform to help produce) video content. I expect that will take some time and don't see any placeholders or notes on when to expect videos. There's on on adding nodes to OpenShift baremetal clusters under "Expert Extras", but no other video content yet. Hopefully we will get an update in the coming months.

For the canonical list of exam objectives you can always refer to the EX380 web: https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training/ex380-certified-specialist-openshift-automation-exam?sec... . This always covers the latest version of the exam (v4.14 in this case).

If you have been preparing for this exam for the 4.10 version and are scheduled for the v4.10, should I be expecting these new objectives to be tested on in the exam or should the older content be tested for on the exam still?

In your case, ignore the new objectives until you pass your 4.10 exam attempt(s). The 4.10 training is applicable only to the 4.10 exam objectives, those have not changed.

The new training and exam objectives are designed to prepare candidates for our current and future direction. There are still customers who have built their GitOps around Ansible and Jenkins so it's still good to know the 4.10 training and pass the 4.10 objectives.

Once you pass your 4.10 exam attempt, you may consider moving onto the 4.14 training to update the skills you have practiced. The 4.10 certification will still be valid for 3 years but I do recommend refreshing skills more frequently, if possible
