DO378 v2.7 EA version 2 release!

Hi All,

We are happy to announce an Early Access (EA) release of DO378: Red Hat Cloud-native Microservices Development with Quarkus. This is an incremental release, and it includes the following completed chapters:

Chapter 6

  • Deploying Quarkus Microservices on the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
  • Deploying Microservices on Red Hat OpenShift from Source Code
  • Connecting to External Services with the Service Binding Operator

Chapter 7

  • Implementing Fault Tolerance Policies in Microservices
  • Implementing Health Checks for Microservices
This release also includes some fixes and enhancements based on the feedback you provided for the previous EA release (chapters 1, 2, 3, and 9).

What do we need from you?

Check it out and continue providing feedback! We’re publishing this in chunks to help make it worth it for you to spend a few hours of your valuable time and provide feedback. This is the only way we can make it better before the GA version is released. Two chapters seems like a reasonable amount and we’ll try to keep it around that size for the next EA releases.

You can find the Early Access version here:

External users: https://rol.redhat.com/rol/app/courses/do378ea-2.7

Internal Red Hatters: https://role.rhu.redhat.com/rol-rhu/app/courses/do378ea-2.7

What kind of feedback do we want from you?

  • Identify things that are broken and don’t work in GE & Labs
  • Identify things in lectures that are wrong or unclear
  • Identify and flag superfluous content that can be removed
  • Note how long it takes you to finish an exercise or read a lecture
  • Does the overall flow work and do the topics as they are grouped in chapters make sense?

You can provide feedback in a couple of ways:

  • Use the big red FEEDBACK button in the course (preferred)
  • Respond to this thread or email

On behalf of the team, I can promise you that we are listening and will respond to all issues. There is always a chance of a WONTDO or NOFIX in the response, but it will be discussed with a reason behind it. The reason might be something as practical as us not having enough time or being forced to make a trade-off with the included content. Don’t let that discourage you, though. We don’t know what we don’t know and having your perspectives and feedback is essential.
