For me "Open Source" is not about "free software", But mores about it :

1. Customizable, it's mean i can legally change the software for best practice my usage
   
   
2. Collaboration, it's mean you need to contribute to together with community of the software. (review, QA testing, report bugs, etc)
   
   
3. Step Closer Advance technology, as you know all the latest technology now day its start from Open Source project (like a "Openstack" its used by many cloud provider, Linux, mores)
   
   
4. Secured, because you can see all the source-code.
   
   
5. Make you learn.

2. Access - Fast and easy to try out.
3. Cost - Individuals get a opportunity to use good quality software.
4. Support - Due to low cost a large number of individuals have knowledge and is supportive.
5. Transparancy - The source code is open.

- community support
- faster bugfixing/development
- portable to different platforms
- reviewing sourcecode if the company requires thorough evaluation what the software does before implementing.
- flexible/customizable
