BitLocker and Remote Exam

To take the Red Hat Certification exam remotely, you will need to create a bootable USB thumb drive and boot from it. This process may require making changes in your computer's BIOS settings. Tweaking the BIOS, changing the boot device order, and disabling Secure Boot may trigger BitLocker and prompt for a recovery key if BitLocker is enabled on your Windows 10 or 11 system. BitLocker is a Windows feature that is linked to BIOS settings and the TPM module of your computer, which is responsible for security and data encryption. Reverting all the changes made in the BIOS should allow you to boot into Windows as usual without needing to enter a recovery key, as you won't need to access any data on the internal hard drive for the exam. However, for peace of mind, I recommend turning off BitLocker before using the computer for the Remote exam. You can only do this if you have administrator privileges. If your computer is subject to Group policies due to being used in a company domain and administered by someone else, there may be restrictions in place. In such cases, it's important to contact your local IT support in advance to ensure that your computer can be "unlocked" for an external USB boot, or consider using a different machine. Keep in mind that this may conflict with your company's security policies.
