Took the exam yesterday, got a perfect score but was one of the most inauspicious starts to a certification exams I have ever taken. I cannot believe in all of Texas there is no testing site (well being in Houston, if there was one in El Paso, it is as good as going to Kansas:)). So decided to take the remote option.
Setup a precision 7920 Dell workstation with a high end Quadro card, loaded the latest USB, compatability check all went ok. Exam starts and the VM display is completely unusable due to mouse movement lag. In fact I even had a VM running on this under RHEL when I was practising so I know the display manager, Gnome, X etc. all works!
Luckily the proctor was patient, helpful. He/she gave me a chance to swap out the system AFTER I started , of course just started a minute into the exam. Took over 40 minutes to get another system , security scan, etc. etc. which btw was a cheap substitute - a simple optiplex workstation with a GTX card, atleast a 5 year old desktop. I guess moral is don't use the latest and greatest graphics card since the RHEL exam iso/usb probably cannot handle it!
The proctor gave me 30 extra minutes but didn't need it. Chewed out most of nails and lost half my weight in water but worked out ok!
@ModusVivendi WOW !!! what a journey! Huge congratulations on acing the EX200 despite that crazy start. That's some serious resilience! Well done!
