I have not seen an announcement of this, but I found a new* question and answer in the Red Hat Traning and Certification FAQ:
https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training-and-certification/faq
Certification candidates who are unsuccessful on their first individual exam attempt are now eligible for a free exam retake. The retake will appear in your scheduling application after your first exam results have been reported. To schedule the free retake, use the same process as scheduling an exam for the first time.
*The Wayback Machine shows that this question was not there on Jan 5th.
Interesting, following.
there is more to come, stay tuned
Now the question and answer have been removed from the FAQ...
Things that make you go hmm...
I hope Red Hat implements free retakes like the Linux Foundation.
Interesting how fast Redhat removed that question and answer from Q&A. Ofc they prefer paid 'retake' instead of free one
Looking forward to the outcome of this one.
I've recently observed in my Red Hat Exam Scheduler interface on of my exam LMS-XXXXX codes received a LMS-XXXXX-RETAKE.1. Any prior exam where I was just below the 210 mark never showed any RETAKE Eligability Codes appear, I just purchased the exam again.
I double checked and the Free Retake FAQ content is once again part of the training-and-certification faq under the What happens if I’m not successful on my first exam attempt? section.
Given I've never seen a retake offered and just appear in the scheduled interface until last night I've asked for clarification on why. If you do not pass I suggest using the contact us form linked in your exam results to inquire about scheduling the retake.
Yes, Starting from Yesterday, users will be granted a free retake if they fail their first exam
