You would verify that the image is working by booting it on the desktop or laptop on which you will be taking the exam. There is no need to mount the iso.

I saw that I needed to use Fedora Writer, so I did...now I can't get it to boot.  It's a shame that Red Hat doesn't have somewhere to take this exam within 100 miles of New York City. The odds are I won't be taking it at this rate.

You can use the dd command to create an image. That said, can you describe the boot problem you are experiencing?

Hi, I need clarification on whether or not an audio output device is required to take the RHCSA (EX 200) exam. For example, during the compatibility test on the liveUSB after testing microphone input, you are asked to listen to playback of the recorded audio. If you are unable to hear the audio due to not having an audio output device are you still eligible to take the exam? If not are external devices such as a usb speaker permitted?

I was curious if there is a way to see the available dates for remote exams before purchasing them? If not, what has been the typical time as of now between purchasing and the first available time slot people have experienced for RHCSA exams?

I think there is no method to do that but typically, for all remote exams,
you can easily find exam time slots in the range between 25 hours and let's
say 32 hours or little more. You can also easily find time slots after 3 to
4 weeks, plus some random few time slots in between.
