RHCSA EX200V8K vs EX200V9K

With the release of RHEL9, does anybody know how much longer the V8 version of the RHCSA will be available for?

While I do not work for Red Hat, I asked this question the other day as I am a Red Hat Academy Instructor.

I was told one year from the date I asked - May 25th if I recall correctly.

Is that correct? I don't know. If it is, will it change (as it has in the past)? Again, I don't know.

If you are studying RHEL8, take the EX200 (RHCSA) exam when you are ready. The certification is good for three years. Taking it now (or in the next few months) won't hurt anything.

I'm just wondering whether EX200V8K is going to be updated from the current (EX200V9K) objectives or it would be exact the same from previous objectives? since it's still around for sometime.

Interesting question. I have looked up the RHEL 8 exam objectives. Just looking at the diffs, the main difference seems to be added objectives in RHEL 9. In other words, RHEL 8 objectives are subset of RHEL 9 objectives.

The RHEL 9 version seems to add the following objectives:

1. Create simple shell scripts
2. Manage containers

Otherwise, the two versions are fairly similar.

Yes, very likely. Plus, there are few other minor changes:

      3. Create and configure file systems 
      4. Deploy, configure, and maintain systems

The elimination of Stratis, and VDO since it was deprecated in 8.5. It is now integrated into LVM - ships with it by default in 9.0

yum/dnf module streams are also gone.
