Taking "fresh-air" breaks are a must for the team I'm on. We take these about once a day and it's nice to get outside for about 15-20 minutes. We usually discuss anything but work; movies, sports, etc. The Marvel movies are always a huge topic of discussion on my team.
I play music, video games, and spend time with the family everyday. On days where I'm working, I have also made a concerted effort to see if what I'm about to start in the afternoon can just wait until the next working day, if there's not enough time complete a task towards the end of the day, Saying not to whimsical requests that are outside standard offerings helps too.
As far as personal life outside of work, I try and avoid and contribute to drama. With that I also try to limit time with toxic people and relationships If I just can't just walk away from. It's amazing how much work and life can actually affect one another.. When either side is not balanced the other side usually is affected.
Traveling. It doesn't have to be far away. But traveling, mostly driving and in silence.
I do anything other than work on the computer. I have to step away from the machines completely as I spend so much time on them already - easily 15 hours a day Monday through Friday . . . and most Saturdays, too.
Read, go garage sale-ing with my wife, watch a ballgame, cook (those who know me won't be surprised by that activity). Just about anything that's not digital - I need some analog in my life, too.
