Remote exam CPU requirements

Jump to solution

Hi all,

I have a question regarding remote exams.

On the document I see this:

On the previous exams I used Intel x86_64 CPUs.

Does the remote exam work with AMD 64-bit CPUs? Or it works only with Intel CPUs?

Thanks

Best Regards

x86_64 includes both Intel and AMD chips. Intel used to have another 64 bit technology (IA64 - Itanium) back in the day but it was deprecated and never made to consumer devices, only servers.

@rhnoname The exam image works with both the Intel and AMD processors. However, few models wiith AMD processors (Not All) are found to have issues with booting sometimes. Especially when associated with NVIDIA/GTX graphics.

Exam image is a spin off of Fedora 37 and which ever model is compatible with Fedora 37 is more likely to be compatible with the exam image too. The best option to check the compatibility is to try booting and running the compatibility test well in advance of the exam date. So that, If you come across any issues, you'll enough time to sort it out and be ready by the exam date and time.

@Sanju7Thanks for the reply.

Actually, I have an intel laptop, but I was just curious if it does work with AMD as well.

Best Regards
