The Curved Map of Learning

Learning is Never a Straight Line

learning curvelearning curve

We like to think learning works like this:

Set a goal → Achieve it.
    ( A ) ->   ( B )

Simple, right?

If only life was that kind.

In reality, the path looks more like a messy rollercoaster.

We start with energy, doubt ourselves, fail a few times, feel lost, pick it up again, and finally make it through. And yes, sometimes we break things that were never broken in the first place.

That’s the real learning journey.

Think about learning a new IT skill. You might think it's just learning a few commands. Then, bam! Errors pop up. You feel like you're in a maze. New tools, updates, and methods come out every week.  One day you master containers, the next day Kubernetes changes again. You finally get SELinux working, then it blocks you on a Friday night just for fun.

But you search online. You ask friends. You slowly start to understand.

The truth is, the people who keep learning stay ahead. Not because they avoid mistakes, but because they get used to them.

They know the loop:                                                 try, fail, learn, retry.

The cycle never ends, and that’s okay. So if your study path feels like a maze, don’t panic.
That squiggly line is proof that you’re moving forward. Stay curious, keep practicing, and accept the bumps.

Because in today’s IT, standing still is the only real failure. That's why continuous learning is key. Don't be afraid of the twists and turns. Embrace the learning, the doubts, even the small failures. Each step, even a stumble, gets you closer to your goal in this ever-changing field. Keep learning, and you will reach your Point B

ok wait wait wait ............

And when you finally reach point B, don’t relax too long… Point C is already waiting !

Do take a break when you need to re-energize and not when you are exhausted !

Yeah, that squiggly line would be an accurate depiction of my learning curve journey!
In hindsight, it was fun, and strengthened my knowledge of the concepts that were to
be learned along the way!!!

@Trevor You are an inspiration because of your continous zeal of learning and improvment. And you not only survived those twists and turns, you said it best  'in hindsight it was fun', and that is the real gold. Because every stumble, detour, and “aha” moment is not just a checkpoint , it’s the build of deeper understanding !
