Hi everyone,
I’ve recently earned a couple of Red Hat certifications while deepening my skills in Linux, virtualization, and containers, and I’ve found that practical learning has often taught me more than theory alone.
I’m curious:
Which Red Hat skill or tool (RHEL, Ansible, OpenShift, Satellite, etc.) has made the biggest impact in your career?
How did you go about learning it; hands-on labs, certifications, mentoring, or solving real-world problems?
Would love to hear how others in the community have approached this. I think these shared stories are a great way for us all to keep learning and evolving in this space.
Looking forward to your insights!
For me, it’s not one single skill that defines me, but the combination: technical knowledge, languages, people skills, curiosity for art or writing. That mix gives me flexibility and helps me see things from different angles. I try to be really honest about where I am with each skill; for example if I’m a 2/10 in Linux today, I want to be a 3/10 tomorrow. In French, maybe I’m a 4, so I read, listen, and practice to reach a 5. What helps me the most is learning from people who are more experienced, that’s when I grow the fastest. And while solving real-world problems is powerful, I’ve found that having a strong theoretical foundation makes everything click better. It’s all about balance and staying open to growth every day.
Thanks for sharing. I really like how you framed growth as a gradual climb and how it spans beyond tech. That honesty about skill levels and your curiosity across fields really stands out. Appreciate your perspective.
