Open source is an alternative to existing software and technology which were generally too expensive to the masses, ie. students, hobbyists, enthusiasts, and most folks in third world countries. Open Source removes this barrier, helping to spawn innovation and business opportunities to a much larger audience.

Open source means freedom to me . I can write code or develop application without a burden on my head that I am using some one else platform . It seems to me as if I am doing work on my own platform.

By definition, Open Source is software with source code that anyone can inspect, modify, and enhance. This software source code builds some of the most useful/free software tools like LibreOffice, GIMP and more!

Open source is like a community, as we are free to participate and read the code. Really nice to be able to learn from others and contribute.
