What is Grading?

Hi,
I am on https://rol.redhat.com/rol/app/courses/jb183-7.0/pages/ch03s09.
It has the following step:
"Open a new terminal window and run the following command to grade the lab: [student@workstation ~]$lab ejb-assessment grade."
Please describe this process of Grading. Whose functionality is it? Java/J2EE or a custom program or JBDS or JAP?
