Appreciate the thoughtful proposal and lots of great ideas here worth exploring.
Red Hat needs to make a native iPad and AppleTV app for RHLS. I would binge watch all my training if I could sit comfortably on my couch with my laptop. Or watch some RHLS videos in bed with my iPad.
Hi @WizCraker, you are right. But can it be played in Safari as a web page, or not? I did not try on iPad... But it should work. But how will you interact with the LAB from your sofa?
It felt like I was wasting precious lab time on basic tasks. So, I ended up buying an ASUS ProArt PX13 laptop, upgraded the drive to 2 TB, installed Fedora 42 on it, then downloaded RHEL, and built a little virtual lab. I know the RHLS labs pre-build scenarios based on the topic. However, most of the things that I feel not confident on are in topics that I never use at work. It is easier to run the labs locally when I can just restore a snapshot to reset. Then just type things until it becomes muscle memory.
For the AppleTV a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse can be connected. So, in theory labs could still be used. It feels like to me using a browser is a tradeoff when when using something like an AppleTV.
For an iPad a native app would make it easier than just running it in a browser to consume the videos. I would like to binge watch like if it was Netflix. Plus, falling asleep to a RHLS training video would be like falling asleep to an ASMR video. Let it seep into my thoughts until I am dreaming of the Red Hat cli...
Thanks for the clarification; I understand now. You're right, I also prefer not to use virtual labs. My setup involves an L-shaped desk with two main computers: my everyday MacBook with multiple screens, and a dedicated PC laptop for testing and learning. I also have a desktop with swappable hard drives.
While I agree that VMs offer easy OS rollback, I prefer using physical machines to ensure the virtual environment doesn't interfere with other devices or keyboard shortcuts. For even more flexibility, I use an old Lenovo X201 and a Dell Latitude 7290, both of which can boot from an SD card, allowing me to easily switch between multiple environments.
It would be great if RH offered an iOS app, but I haven't heard of anything in development. It seems we all have unique learning habits and preferences, and adapting to challenges is just part of the process!
JOINED curious
Why I joined?
Pure curiosity, to learn how the things work in RHEL, why everyone is talking about Openshift.
Although, I am learning the RHEL and how it works, it still seems I am stuck, cause I am not building anything yet.
@Linuxec welcome to the community. RHEL + OpenShift is a great way to accelerate things up! Why do you feel you are stuck - can we help in someway ?
@Linuxec I feel you! You are not alone in this.
