So I took my EX316, and pretty sure I failed it, only got thru 60% of it. I tested on my laptop. I couldn't make my external 24" display working, the display would show me the exam desktop background only. I tried setting it as primary, disable my laptop display which basically ended with I can't see what I'm doing so I needed to reboot. Also, my external mouses wouldn't work. I tried a MX Master 2S and a Logitech G502. both are wireless but I had a USB cable plugged into them and they still didn't work. proctor said it was because they had a scrool wheel???? so I had to resort to my dodgy touchpad which I really hate using because it's so twitchy. This resulted in the worst case scenario for me. I'm old, I need a big screen, I always use external keyboard and mouse so having to go the laptop keyboard and touchpad killed my flow. Why can't we cut and paste? so many URL that had to be retyped for qcow2 images. and early in the test, I was told I couldn't have multiple tabs opened in firefox. One for the test steps and the 3 for documentations, and openshift console ui. Can't use shortcuts, I kept getting into a situation where I couldn't type anymore and proctor had to restart the sharing. And for the last 45mins of the test, everything started lagging, 3 to 5 seconds delay between typing and it showing up and the pointer jumping all over
Hi Sylvain
Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Let me comment. I work in the support team for those exams and helping candidates with such issues is my daily bread.
Why are you mentioning the wireless mice? It is clear from the requirements those devices are banned. You could have tested the wired USB mouse beforehand. Did the proctor told you about the scrolling wheel? I will verify it. It seems to be unrelated or wrong. But you must be aware the proctors are not The technical support. The real tech support would also help you with the external monitor. Just set the monitor to mirroring mode, check the resolution and partially close the laptop"s display lid so you cannot access the keyboard, display is not visible but the laptop does not go to sleep. It usually works. We recommend making those steps several days before the exam, feel free to contact the support chat or even ask my name there. I would do my best to help you out. We want you to have a good exam experience and we offer a helping hand. Just use it.
