Command Prompt has been around since day zero for Microsoft, the introduction of PowerShell with blue branding to separate the feel of common Linux Shell interface was a step forward for them, each release of PowerShell brings more features and they are clearing trying to make a usable system for CLI only (Server Core versions for example).
Microsoft, Linux & Mac OS have all been around for so many years that features, functionality and user interactions mean they are blending and taking best parts of each OS and redeploy as a slightly different name/look (only for legal reasons).
I am glad Microsoft exist because competition is healthy and drives technology forward for each company. Look at former Nokia/Blockbuster who didn’t take competition serious or tried to innovate.
Just my own personal views.

the times may be changing but you can't change the past. who's to say this is or isn't a tactical move in line with the EEE strategy?
