Hi everyone,
I'm just completing the RH403 course. I bumped into an issue in sections 9.8 and 9.9, PXE provisioning. All the configuration on the satellite went through smoothly, and when I rebooted serverc or serverd respecively, the systems started boot using PXE. Kernel and Initrd are loaded, but after extracting the initrd I get a kernel panic. Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception is the exact message. Unfortunately I can't scroll back in the terminal to see the last step it tried to do. My guess is that there is a problem mounting the filesystems.
Is this a known issue with this lab? It also happened on the Lab in section 9.9 and also 10.2.
I've attached a screenshot from the console.
Anyone? Thanks and regards,
Juerg
I've done the labs but didn't have this issue. Do you get kernel panic during provisioning from PXE boot? Or is it after the system has already been provisioned and started booting from disk?
It happens during provisioning, while booting the PXE boot image.
Hi Juerg,
I believe the issue is occuring in Chapter 9 and Chapter 10 where serverc and serverd machines are to be provisioned using PXE boot.
We are working on this issue to be resolved at the earliest.

Hi Ashish,
Thanks a lot for looking into this.
Have a great day and best regards,

Hi Ashish,
I have got the same problem, I'm getting "Kernel Panic" when I'm trying to boot serverc in 9.3 exerciese. Do you know, when the problem be resolved? I have the EX403 exam on next Friday and I'm not able to practise the VM provisioning.
Regards,
Adrian
From my personal experience, it will be weeks until they get to fix something RHLS related. Don't hold your breath.
Hi Adrian
Well, that's unfortunate that it doesn't work for you either, but it somewhat confirms that there is an issue. The good news is that you can go on with the labs, the grading scripts all complete successfully and there are no tasks on the new systems. It would be really nice to see the new systems up and running, but I tink it's not crucial.
Good luck with your exam!
Cheers, Juerg
Hi @adrianozy

Any update on this issue?
I've repeated the provisioning labs a couple of times now and everytime I get the same kernel panic error.
