RHCSA Version/Objectives

Jump to solution

Hi! I've purchased my exam and feel I'm ready. I went to schedule it but ran into an issue: I don't know what version of the test to choose. I saw V8, V9, and V9.3. V8's not it because I've studied for V9. I don't know if I need to take V9 or V9.3. The objectives say "This exam is based on Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® 9" so I'm thinking it means V9 but not sure if it does or if that simply means version 9x (ex - any version of 9). Sorry for being confused. I don't want to study for the wrong one. Thanks!

Hi! I found my answer via Red Hat:

Thank you for contacting Red Hat Certification Team.
The objectives are same for both version 9 and version 9.3

Regards,
Red Hat Certification Team.

Thanks so much everyone! Sorry; this exam is stressing me out so I'm questioning everything. Ugh!

@tonybe You will want to be sure to match the exact number. The exam for 9 will be on RHEL 9, so you'll want to take the courses that also are on version 9. The exam for 9.3 will match the course for 9.3. There may be a lot of similarities between both versions, but the best way is to match the exact number when you train.

Thanks! Is the 9.3 exam avaliable? The labs/training classes on the Learning Center appear to be on 9.0. The objectives on the Red Hat site say version 9. Maybe I'm overthinking this but wanted to be sure.

It may depend on the exam, but I am seeing version 9.3 on several, including EX200. You will be able to see the available versions once you try to schedule your exam in the Individual Exam Scheduler.

@tonybe as of now the courses RH124 and RH134 are released on v 9.3 , so if you are selecting exam for v9.3 you will have labs in v9.3 for practice. But if you select exam on v9, the labs for v9 wont be available post 16th October 2024 for practice.

I will suggest that you go for the latest version of both exam and course.

Thanks! Do you have a link to the 9.3 objectives? I see this: https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training/ex200-red-hat-certified-system-administrator-rhcsa-exam?...  but it doesn't say 9.3. Thanks!

Yes that link is yet to be updated.

I doubt there is a change in the exam objectives for v9.3 but officially you can check the same by filling this form here : https://rhtapps.redhat.com/comments

Hi! So 9.3 is current and V9 is coming in October? I was interpreting V9 to mean RHEL 9.0. Is V9 a later version that 9.3? Sorry again for the confusion and I'm sure I'm overthinking this. I think I'm stressing over the test and can't think straight.

No @tonybe I did not mean that, of course v 9.3 is latest and v9 is there till october 2024 ( after that only v9.3 will be available in our catalogue ).
