Hello @kevinjclark , since exam questions are out of bound for discussion due to the NDA we all agreed to when signing up for it - I can tell you that you need to figure out that yourself. In the exam - the instructions and exam task details is enough to tell you whether you should do something like it or not.
I will recommend to revisit your previous results email and focus on those areas where you could not score enough and practice the course labs / exam objectives correspondingly on various scenarios.

I know how to reset the root password, but when I try to do that at the beginning by pressing "e" a password comes out I think its "grub" something like that. I need to remove or reset it in order to reset the root password. in addition, I don't have access to the system ( redhat8 ) not as root and not as regular user. what do I need to do here to reset that password. thank you

mount -o remount,rw /sysroot
chroot /sysroot
