DO180 (v4.6) Chapter 4, Section 1 needs updating.
There is a note that says this:
However, the note is incorrect - or incomplete. The location it shows is correct if an image is pulled by the root user. If an image is pulled by a rootless user, it is stored in:
~/.local/share/containers/storage/overlay-images
The storage location is defined in /etc/containers/storage.conf
In the Red Hat lab space, Podman v1.6.4, it shows this:
However, this isn't complete - there is a different default is the user isn't root. This is seen in Podman v3.0.2-dev's storage.conf file:
I have tested this in the Red Hat lab (Podman v1.6.4) space:
- while logged on as the student user, downloaded images were stored here:
/home/student/.local/share/containers/storage/overlay-images - while logged on as the root user, downloaded images were stored here:
/var/lib/containers/storage/overlay-images
