Proctoring or Offering the RHCSA @ My School

Hello All,

I know that a number of colleges and universities have robust testing centers that offer services for places like PersonVUE, EC-Council, etc.... Is it possible for a college or university to be allowed to proctor the RHCSA exam? I know that it's a performance based exam, but it would be really great so that a student could take the offical test on campus and not have to hunt down an offical proctor.

Do any RHA currently deal with proctoring at all?

Hi Tobin!

I have been working with Lauren to get testing here at my college.  The main requirement is just getting the testing (Koala) laptop to test on.  You have to get the webcam specified and make sure that you have a good internet connection.  Red Hat will load the software and make sure that everything is on it and ready for test time.  The hard part is the cost of the laptop.  It's pretty costly.  You get the laptop to a Red Hat site (or mail it to them) and they preload their stuff on it.  You keep it secure until test day.

Provide the student with a closed, quiet room.  The test center from Red Hat does everything remotely and ensures that the student is 'honest'.  (Hence the reason for the webcam.)  When all is said and done, the student wll bring you the laptop (or get it when the time expires on the exam.) Red Hat does the grading and contacts the student directly.

If I can help in any way, send me an email:  deoliver@johnstoncc.edu

Thank you! I am so happy to hear that you are going to be persuing this as wel. Interesting--so it looks like this is a good option possibly. Do you know if we would also be listed as a general testing center for the community as well? That is usually the biggest factor in our testing center adopting a new service: they want to see it as a possible additional source of revenue outside of students. Personally, I just like that it's a one-stop-shop for our students.

I will contact Lauren to get the ball rolling, and I will reach out to you if I have any questions.

I'm also curious about being listed as a testing center for the public.  We're considering buying two laptops to offer the exams to students next year.

A closed, quiet room was mentioned.  Does this mean each student needs to be in a room alone, or can I have two students take the test at the same time (in a very large classroom).  That might have an impact on the best testing location on our campus.

Thanks,

Paul

There have always been colleges that offer preparation courses for the EX200 exam for RHCSA status.
