Announcing the 2020 Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year

Each year during Red Hat Summit, we recognize Red Hat Certified Professionals who demonstrate ingenuity, hard work and expertise by making a difference in their organizations. We’re proud to announce that Fabrice Harbulot, cloud engineer and Red Hat Certified Architect Level VII, has been named the 2020 Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year.

Fabrice has earned several Red Hat certifications and is a Red Hat Certified Specialist in Linux Performance Tuning, Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ceph Storage Administration, Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Best Practices, Red Hat Certified Specialist in Security: Containers and OpenShift Container Platform, Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Application Development, Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration, Red Hat Certified Specialist in Server Security and Hardening, Red Hat Certified Specialist in Container Management, Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Automation, Red Hat Certified Engineer in Red Hat OpenStack, Red Hat Certified System Administrator in Red Hat OpenStack, Red Hat Certified Engineer and Red Hat Certified System Administrator.

Fabrice’s journey to this award began at a very young age when he was given his first computer and discovered his passion for coding at five years old. This interest carried on through college where he studied Linux at the advice of his cousin who worked in the IT field. In 2019, Fabrice was named the Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year runner-up, which served as motivation to gain additional certifications and reapply for this year’s award.

The Red Hat Learning Subscription has been key to helping Fabrice hone his skills in Red Hat technologies, and he is also an active member of the Red Hat Learning Community.

In 2019, when his company needed to accelerate cloud deployments and give developers more control of deployment executions, Fabrice was assigned the overhaul of the existing cloud architecture. As a Red Hat Certified Architect, he used the skills he had acquired in Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat Ansible to optimize their private cloud environment. The initiative was successful in significantly shortening error notification times, which previously resulted in a timed-out session.

For more than two decades, the Red Hat Certification program has had a single goal: validating skills through a program with rigorous, hands-on and performance based testing. Red Hat’s certifications help system administrators, application developers and IT architects advance their careers and help close the skills gap facing the IT industry. Red Hat Certifications establishes benchmarks for what an IT professional should know when using Red Hat technology.

Congratulations to Fabrice Harbulot, also known in the community as @littlebigfab! Please join us in congratulating him on his oustanding achievement.

Hi Fabrice,

Congratulations on being named Red Hat Certified Professional of the Year.  As the manager of the team that develops many of the exams you have taken I know how much hard work and effort your RHCA+ represents.  It is gratifying to all of us on the Certification Team and in Global Learning Services to see our customers succeed.

Best regards,

Henry Maine

Hey @littlebigfab ! Glad to see you here, and congratulations for this achievement. I remember seeing you so disappointed after attending my EX210 delivery because you thought you missed it... while in fact you rocked it ;-)

We're the same age, and I too had a Commodore computer (Amiga 500 + 512Bytes RAM extension). I read the Dreams magazine back then (which became LOGIN: a while after) and they once provided Linux 1.0 on their floppy disk in 94. That's when I discovered it.

We never had the opportunity to discuss all this. Hope to come across your path in the future.

Hi Fabien and thank you very much for your pleasant message :smileyembarrassed:

It's a little weird to speak with you in English :smileylol:

I totally remember that EX210 exam. It was my very first Red Hat certificate of expertise, back in 2015, far from becoming a RHCA at the time, not even thinking about it yet. The reason why I was pretty stressed out on that day is that I had paid the CL211 training course + exam myself as a freelancer, along with travel arrangements to Paris. It was the first time I had invested so much on my own training. At some point during the exam, that stressful feeling clouded my ability to think clearly and made me panic, I suppose. I was soooo relieved when I received the results with a PASS ! :smileyvery-happy:

I'm just a little surprised that you remember that episode too ! :smileyvery-happy:

I'll always remember you as my first Red Hat Proctor, and a pretty cool one :smileywink: It's a shame indeed that we haven't shared more. Linux user in 94, that's pretty impressive !!

I hope to see you again too. Please say hi to StartX staff for me :smileywink:
