I did. Am I the only one nuts enough to do this in their own time, with their own money?
I'm three months into my journey to RHCA. I've passed one exam and started my second course, so I'm on track and it's working out well. But ouch! It sure was painful, seeing all that lovely money disappearing from my bank account.
Does everyone else have an employer that covers the cost?
You are far from being the only one, and there is nothing crazy about it. You're investing in yourself, in your career, your future.
Hi Nick,
As a freelance consultant, I pay for my training myself too. However I managed to become RHCA first, so that I got the 50% discount on my RHLS.
In the end, the investment is absolutely worth it. When I joined the company I currently work at, they immediately gave me the 'expert' title and the associated daily rate, mostly because of my Red Hat certification path. That daily rate premium made my RHLS being paid back entirely in less than one year.
So no, it is not crazy at all, rather the opposite : it is a rational investing decision.
But as you probably have figured out by now, the most significant investment about RHLS is not the money In that regard, paying for the training yourself certainly gives you some extra-motivation to succeed
You are so right.
Squeezing in revision time in the morning before work, rewriting my revision plan, and catching up at weekends - this seems to be my new normal.
A motivator for me is watching the countdown on the RHLS site. 309 days left? It can't be! I've got so much to do!
Yes NickH,
You're not the only one, am on my third Term now,n I'v paying mine since the begining of the program.
I like your strategy, few revisions on the morning, I have to try that migh be helpful, cause am always on the "catching up" mode
Zied.
