Autostop time (in minutes) for labs

Could you please modify a system of Autostop time (in minutes).

It is a very useful system.

Subscription is a good solution for internet education. And one of the benefits that we can use it in our free time.

If I start every day education I would like to use it with labs during a day .

It is not clearl why I shall prolong lab time in minutes every few hours?

Start Lab. Wait for 10 or more minutes...

Pres "Modify", type 240, press "Adjust time"

Oh, forgot to prolong....

Start Lab. Wait for 5 or more minutes...

Pres "Modify", type 240, press "Adjust time"

Not forgot. Pres "Modify", type 240, press "Adjust time"

And the same routine every day for a year.....…

I watch education video and work with lab. And after watching part of a video that lab stops. I will start it and wait for labs....

Looks like you are trying to receive profit from forgetful users.

How much is the profit ? About 30-60 minutes per day from forgetful users?

Could you, please, modify the system.

For example: Select needed time interval from 9:00 to 21:00 or select from 1 to 16 hours.

And users will select the eeded time interval once per day (not 3 or 4 times per day).

Re: Autostop time (in minutes). Looks like you are trying to receive profit from forgetful users.

Thanks for your feedback @Pavel_ . I can assure you this experience does not exist in any way to try to profit from forgetful users. Users get their block of lab hours for the subscription, so we are not profiting in any way if you happen to need to start the lab a second or third time. The reason for this default, is a way for our labs teams to consistently shut down labs, based on the average time that users work with our labs. The average time is about an hour, and that's why this default is set this way. We did want to give users a way to change this, and so you can go in and extend the time you need, based on your learning needs for that lab.

As you note, this process can become frustrating, so our teams are currently working on ways of improving this whole lab experience. We will update the community with any Product release notes when they are available.

A great add to the timer is a warning when the lab is about to shutdown, like 10-15 minutes before, so if the student forget to extend the time, at least he will receive the alarm and be able to extend it, before it's shutdown abrupbtly.

Re: Autostop time (in minutes) for labs

I agree with  @Pavel_

I use DO407 lab. it has four servers (servera-d) + workstation + classroom.  by the time they all start 15-20 minutes.

now I turn on the machines, first the classroom, because if it doesn't, the workstation doesn't work fine Smiley Sad

maybe a pause function could not be created?

best regards,

Re: Autostop time (in minutes) for labs

Anything involving self discipline, thinking of assignments, or planning weeks in advance is too hard for me sometimes so I think a default time period of one hour is pretty resonable. Anyway, I like how the education process is organized here.
