Custom Skills Paths

Custom Skills Paths enable users to create a group of Red Hat Training offerings in the Red Hat Learning Subscription. The group of offerings is captured and saved as a Skills Path in the Skills Path Catalog. 
 
 

Creating a Custom Skills Path for yourself

  1. Log into the Learning Subscription.
  2. Click the Skills Paths navigation button at the top of the page.
  3. Click the red Create Custom Skill Path button under the list of filters. 
  4. If you also have Administrator or Manager access, select that you want to create a custom path for yourself by clicking the Create For Myself button.  
  5. Edit mode for the new Custom Skills Path will be enabled. In this mode you will need to define:
    1. Title: the name of your new path. Title will appear on the Skills Path card and be seen within the Catalog as well as on the Homepage. This field is mandatory. 
    2. Description: a detailed note about what this path is designed to achieve, who the audience is, and what the intended goals are from this path
    3. Offerings: catalog content including courses and exams may be added to the path. To add these, you can do one of these actions:
      1. Click in the field with the text "Select an offering…” and then choose a selection from the list. Select Accept to add it.
      2. Scroll through the list of offerings below the path and click Add to Path on any that you would like included.
      3. Use the filters on the left to narrow down the list of offerings below the path and then click Add to Path to those you want.
    4. Due date: the target date for users to complete the entire group of training courses and exams in the path.
  6. Click Create to complete the Custom Skills Path creation process. The path will now appear in your catalog of Skills Paths. All Custom Skills Paths can be identified by using the “Custom” selection in the “Path Types” filter. 
  7. To edit your created Custom Skills Path, click Customize on the Skills Path card to enter edit mode. Here, you can change any of the form fields of your Custom Skills Path. 

Creating a Custom Skills Path for your team

  1. Log into the Learning Subscription as an Administrator or Manager of an Organization.
  2. Click the Skills Paths navigation button at the top of the page.
  3. Click the red Create Custom Skill Path button under the list of filters. 
  4. Select that you want to create a custom path for your team by clicking the Create For My Team button.  
  5. Edit mode for the new Custom Skills Path will be enabled. In this mode you will need to define:
    1. Title: the name of your new path. Title will appear on the Skills Path card and be seen within the Catalog as well as on the Homepage for users who are enrolled in the path. This field is mandatory. 
    2. Description: a detailed note about what this path is designed to achieve, who the audience is, and what the intended goals are from this path for the team. 
    3. Offerings: catalog content including courses and exams may be added to the path. To add these, you can do one of these actions:
      1. Click in the field with the text "Select an offering…” and then choose a selection from the list. Select Accept to add it.
      2. Scroll through the list of offerings below the path and click Add to Path on any that you would like included.
      3. Use the filters on the left to narrow down the list of offerings below the path and then click Add to Path to those you want.
    4. Due date: the target date for users to complete the entire group of training courses and exams in the path.
    5. Assigned users: list of users who will be enrolled into the curated path. Administrators and Managers can add any of their assigned users, across all of their assigned organizations. Use the organization filters with the search function to identify all users who should be assigned to this path. Click Apply to add them.
  6. Click Create to complete the Custom Skills Path creation process. The path will now appear in your catalog of Skills Paths. All Custom Skills Paths can be identified by using the “Custom” selection in the “Path Types” filter. All users who were assigned this path will now see it listed on their Homepage as an enrolled path. 
  7. To edit your created Custom Skills Path, click Customize on the Skills Path card to enter edit mode. Here, you can change any of the form fields of your Custom Skills Path. The path will then be edited for any of the users that had been assigned to this path. 

Tracking a Custom Skills Path

Enterprise Administrators and Managers can track team progress through the Custom Skills Paths that are assigned to them.

  1. Log into the Learning Subscription with Administrator or Manager credentials.
  2. Click the Dashboard navigation link at the top of the page, and then select Management Overview from the dropdown. 
  3. Each organization will have access to a Custom Skills Path tab in the Management Reporting dashboard. This will include all of the paths that have been assigned to users within this organization which the Administrator or Manager has access to.
    Note: Administrators are able to see all of the assigned paths for all users in the organization. Managers are only able to see the paths assigned to their users.
    1. Search: use this field to narrow down the list of users that are assigned to the selected Custom Skills Path. 
    2. Filter dropdown: use this menu to select the Custom Skills Path that you would like to track progress for. 
    3. Due date: for the selected Custom Skills Path. 
    4. Progress Table
      1. Name: name of the user assigned to the path
      2. Username: username of the user assigned to the path
      3. Email: email address of the user assigned to the path
      4. Progress: percentage complete through the assigned path. Progress is determined by the total percentages completed through each of the path’s offerings.
