DO180 - For how long I am supposed to wait (and how many attempts) for the lab environment to work?

Hi,

I am fully aware that builging a full OpenShift lab takes time... But I guess today is much harder. I have been waiting 80 solid minutes (if not more), the lab does not start successful.

I am wonder if everybody is suffering the same experience.

It is rare for me to have 2 hours for training (rather, I do have 1 hour one day and another 1 hour the following day). But knowing by previous sessions that the lab can take up to 40 minutes, today I made sure I had several hours ahead of me. But still, not enough for what I can see.

Screenshots attached.

I am going to delete the full thing now, and give it yet another try (so again at least 40 minutes). Not sure I am going to manage to run a single lab today!

Cheers,

Ana

Hey @AnaV my best advice would be, if you have an issue with your labs not starting, especially any of the openshift labs:

1. Delete your lab
2. Recreate the lab
3. Start your lab ( if not started automatically)
4. ssh to workstation and then ssh to the utility server with the below command:
ssh lab@utility           ( no password is needed, it uses ssh-keys)
5. run the below command (from the utility server) :
    ./wait.sh
6. wait for that command to complete, it will wait for all the openshift components to ready
and then it will end with success. Then exit out of the ssh session for the utility server.
7. only then try to start any labs etc.

I found that it's important to not try and run any labs until the cluster is ready, otherwise it gets messed up for some reason.

I follow steps 3-6 every time I need to use my lab.

Good luck!

After deleting the lab completely, the new lab instance worked, after waiting 30 minutes.
