If RHLS is purchased by employer but employee leaves the organization early, is it transferable?

Jump to solution

Currently working for a small business employer for whom the full price subscription would be a stretch at this time, but wondering whether it is locked to the individual employee, even if purchased by the employer, if that employee leaves the organization, or is it transferable to their replacement?

Otherwise it would seem to be too much risk for them (at least until I've worked long enough to persuade them I am staying... and possibly reach RHCA entirely on my own, then get the RHLS at the 50% discount).

Ismail,

According to the product Terms and Conditions :

Substitution of Enrollees: During the term of the ROLE subscription, substitution of the single Named Participant is not permitted except as otherwise approved by Red Hat in writing.

It is possible to transfer the subscription, but it's at Red Hat's sole disgression.  In earlier versions of the terms and conditions, transfers were completely prohibited.  Which is to day, at one point, absolutely not, now possibly, but rarely.

I would imagine transferring subscriptions to different users would be way too easy to "game" for the unscrupulous.

I believe, you can give a genric ids for login, where the email id used at the time of subscription, mentioned to your organisational id. If employee leave, then you can change its password. through that you can secure your RHLS by unauthorized access

No, that is, in fact, not permitted.  Not even a little.

We explictly state in the terms and conditions that the user must be a "Named User".

Company175, as an example, would not be a Named User, and as a consequence, we do apply some extra limits to these accounts, potentially up to disabling them.  Shared accounts are also not permitted and use of them can also result in revocation.
