Is there a monthly subscription option for RHLS?

If not, will RH consider offering one?

Annual subscription is very expensive for individual learners.

Thanks.

I am wondering this as well. My company has said they will not pay for the subscription. So I would also like to know if there is anything else available for a Single person who wants to be able to take advantage of the RH learning site. 6 or 7K is just out of my own pocket is not an option, plus my Wife would be very very upset with me.. If you do not have anothe option I would hope that you might want to consider some other option for folks like myself and others who want to do the RH Training but can just not afford the 6 - 7K.

Thanks I hope someone does read this and replies

@richg -

You do raise some very good points. However, I will mention a few counterpoints and considerations. One of the values of the Standard annual subscription is that you have access to all the courses as well as exams included with free exam retakes. As an instructor, a learner, and an IT person, I can state that if you truly go through a course, it takes at least a week of constant 8hrs/day interaction with the course materials to fully learn and understand all the concepts that are being taught. It also takes me several days to "prepare" for the exams by looking at the objectives.

Assuming you plan on taking an exam, and assuming you are not planning on devoting a full work week to 100% focus on the training and taking the exam in that window, then it won't help much having just a month-long subscription. The great thing about RHLS is the ability to access all course material on your own time throughout the year and schedule the remote exam to fit into your schedule. A problem with how things work is that all exams must be scheduled and completed within your subscription timeframe. So given a 30-day subscription, it is highly likely you would only have time to focus on a single course and a single exam.

If the goal is self-paced, one thing you might be able to consider is the a la carte courses where you can select a course and have 90 days of access to the course content and labs. That might be a more desirable option in terms of budget, but if you plan on taking several of the courses, then the RHLS annual subscription is still the "cheapest" option.

HI Travis, Sir, I do understand the time and effort that goes into creating these courses. I also understand the time and effort I need to put into taking the courses. I guess maybe I did not word this correctly. What I am wondering if RH could not say ok 6K or year that equals about 500 a month so offer this NOT a monthly subscription but a 6 month, and payment option of the 500 a month. I just can not justify 6K. The other person said take a single course but that can cost up to 2-3k. I love the idea of being able to have access to all the material. While a lot of folks are into the testing side to show they can do it. I am more into the learning side having the option to be able drill down into say Ansible, or openstack and learn about the different options. The problem a lot of us have at least from my side. I have take RH in class courses before and while the content is great, when I get back to the job we end up using only 1/10 of material and the rest falls by the wayside. My main reason for wanting to take RH training is I know it is the best. I have tried Udemy, Pearson IT Cert., YouTube, cloudAcademy and while they are OK, it by far nothing like the RH Training.

I do not have an answer to the problem and maybe I will not be able to get one. I am just trying to find a way to afford it, and by the sounds of it I will not be able to. Thank you for your time and effort in producing the training it is greatly appreciated. all the best in 2023.

@richg The only discount I see is that you get 50% off of RHLS if you are an RHCA.

https://www.redhat.com/en/services/certification/rhca

Also, have you tried A Cloud Guru (they purchased Linux Academy)? You can get an annual subscription for $200-$300.

@Travis Thanks for your response. We are not talking about a one-month subscription, rather a month-to-month subscription,as @richg suggested below, for say $500/month

Re: your a-la-carte suggestion, that is also expensive. I'm interested in taking RHCSA exam. The 90-day rapid track course costs $4,563 (just for one course!) - one might as well purchase the RHLS for $6,000.

For comparison: SAP - one-year subscription costs $2-3K, AWS & GCP - $30/month

SUSE offers one-year subscription at 2-levels for 1 user: Silver level $2,250 (no labs/no exam vouchers), Gold level $5,250 (w/ labs & exam vouchers).

It would be beneficial if RHLS can offer a lower-priced tier or a month-to-month subscription.

In this case it is important to take into consideration how many courses and exams you want to take. Bear in mind that with RHLS, you can have 2 retakes too, and depending on the plan, you have live sessions.

Depending on the case, it is better to purchase the courses and exames separetely or a bundle.

I agree on the price matter, it is a considerable amount, but there are a lot of benefits and I am not sure if we would have all of these in a monthly subscription.

@EmanuelHaine GCP, AWS, and A Cloud Guru month-to-month subscriptions have all the benefits of an annual subscription.
