I too have the same issue here with RH436 LAB, I've travelled hundreds of kilometres to a different where RedHat exam station is available and I wanted to practice before appearing exam but LAB issue is not fixed from more than 5 days and Red Hat Support is not even responding for support case though I have opened it with Severity # 1.
Because of this, I had to cancel all my prescheduled tasks, which cost me too much.
I am totally upset and feeling like not to buy RHLS ever again.
I never used the lab for the 436 on RHEL 7 in the subscription however I've attended the EX436exam.
I've found no issue with the exam, I got 300/300 in half of the time requested on the first try. The task requested to me were crystal clear, exam environment worked without issues. However, has been some time since then.
Hi @BogdanB ,
Actually one of the instruction was very wrong, and got me twice on RH436. I passed on third attempt while being sick and did much worse than previous attempts, after realizing the mistake (in the exam). As a result I can say I failed because my previous attempts were not graded, due to script unable to connect. It was so annoying that I had no pleasure or good feeling of passing that certification.
I can't say more due to the NDA, let's say it's something like: "You have to use XXX for this scenario". I was not in that scenario so I used something else. And failed.
I certainly used the full exam time though, clearly your experienced and skills helped.
What I want to say is that it's sometimes not that clear, and sometimes clearly wrong.
There is a problem, sometimes. The question is how to solve it? I suggested paraphrasing what could be ambigous (ie: writing the same question twice using different words).
To come back to the candidate's issue, I haven't read the recently added information. I also don't remember much about it. I need more time to process it.
Hi @JS_Learning ,
My condition in the exam was, I have done "iscsiadm -m discovery -t st -p <ipaddress>" after configuring "InitiatorName=iqn.2020-09..................:node1" and logged in to the target successfully by "iscsiadm -m node -T iqn.2020-09.............:cluster -p <ipaddress> -l" and it was also successful output.
Now, after enabling "mpathconf --enable" configuration file loaded,
used "blacklist" section for "/dev/vda" as they are local disks based on lsblk or df -h or fdisk.
Now, multipathd daemon started perfectly but when multipath -ll executed nothing was showing!!!!!!! , so rebooted the machine, again and again, even TCP port 3260 also added to firewalld.............. and rebooted nodes again and again, still cannot able to see "/dev/mapper/mpatha" as it was mentioned in the question.
So, when I saw a common disk "/dev/sdX" across given nodes, I started testing in the exam itself of "pvcreate, vgcreate and lvcreate" same as mentioned in Chapter 13 of the comprehensive guide but started getting the same error, which it is coming in Practice LAB then i was shocked and escalated to the Proctor and he says everything is alright from their side.
My Concern was if I am doing something wrong or missing something in the Question it must through the error relevant but not irrelevant, which i had pasted then I asked the proctor shall I take the screenshot as he had asked me to open a support case. When Red Hat Support does not accept p1 or p2 cases without the SOS report, then how can we open a support case with Red Hat the issues that we faced during the examination without evidence?
Proctor rejected the request then I had respected the NDA but how will i get the justice now? is a big question now.
Because this is 4th attempt that I could not able to clear the RH436!!!
The very interesting part is in the last 5 minutes of the examination, i used the same pvcreate, vgcreate, lvcreate commands and it worked, even gfs2 worked. Since the Proctor has access to my screen, I asked to see it is working and I asked him immediately to extend my time but he once again rejected the request and asked me to open a support case.
I wish no other should suffer like me for RH436 and become victims and I beg Red Hat to take appropriate action on this as we all are RedHatians and We all want to live and grow with Red Hat from wherever we are.
@JS_Learning For 436 I didnt use the official RH training. I used my own lab on CentOS. Perhaps that was the key. The exam was a class exam but for practice I use my homelab. Also I had some exposure to peacemaker on SuSe(an older version but still, some exposure).
@BogdanB it means, instead of buying RHLS subscription by investing thousands of dollars to fail the exam for "N" number of attempts and wrong guidance in official student guides? it is better to do our own setup on CentOS to pass?
@AbsarShaik At that time money for the certification came from my own pocket so buying RHLS was out of the question. RHCA was a personal goal of mine and no employer carred about that even though I had some help along the way when my interest will coincide with that of the employer.
I feel your frustration, I've had similar issues with 425, raised a support case and now I'm waiting for their response. I suggest you raise a support case again, you have 30 days after the exam for that.
@BogdanB Sorry i was not mean to hurt you but was just joking about CentOS setup and really appreciate your efforts.
RHLS is useful but if it is not helping working and experienced professionals like us to achieve our certifications then how we can promote redhat business to further levels is what my concern?
Yes, I have already escalated to the RedHat service center, about issues that I faced during the examination and I strongly believe that Red Hat will do justification to me by compensation.
Let's hope for the best.
I would play the "devil's advocate" and say that if the same error is present in the lab and in the exam, then it's a good preparation
Joke aside, I entirely understand your frustration and comment, and I also think something is not acceptable here. I do understand that there is a need to protect integrity for the exams and therefore it's not easily possible to discuss any technical point without somehow impacting that integrity. Yet for the training, if you raised a support ticket it should have been addressed and you should have received the help, especially when being a RHLS subscription member...
I see if you have "RHLS Standard" (I don't know), you can chat with an expert:
Expert chat (https://www.redhat.com/en/services/training/learning-subscription#? . I would say that should help for your technical issue.
I tried to log in quickly to try do the chapter 13 of RH436 (I totally forgot about the course). Unfortunately it seems to be an outage right now, and I am unable to login :/ I made an internal ticket.
I'm going to try to find the right contact to help you better and when I will be able to access my training environment, I will try to redo the same exercice as you.
