RHCA status - how to keep it current

Hi guys.

I am an RHCA and I am wondering if it is worthy to keep it current. 
If yes, what would be the best approach, especially when not supported by employer?

Either buy/take 2 exams per year or buy RHLS every ~3 years presuming passing all (5) exams in cycles..
Any thoughts?

I have not seen any replies to this. I am wondering the same. Very good question. Do you think it gets rather expensive to keep up? And, does your employer know how valuable your skill is with having this? They may be unaware? Kudos to you on achieving RHCA.

Yes, I think it gets quite expensive to keep up.
We had a one time deal with my current employer to finance my RHLS. (I paid for my first RHLS with my private money)

As of now, I hold RHCA "title" level 4 and I am not sure if I'll able to keep up even with 50% discount for RHCA people.

I am exploring my options now to bring RH technologies closer to talented people who could learn, grow and contribute to development of different RH products.

But the fact is, you need to be privileged enough to gain the RHCA status and I am not myself identified with this narrative. Who knows, maybe one day I will become an ambassador for RH :)

What is your plan/suggestion to keep RHCA current?

@Karci One task you have to fullfill, keep RHSCA and RHCE current, the top level certificates you have to keep at least 5 current.

Yes, it cost a lot of money.

A lot of discussion has been heard about what happens if an exam is discontuined. Do you loose your RHCA, if you had a mimimal set of certficates? No suitable answer was given at the time I overheard it.

@JG_Kootstra  afaik you lose your RHCA status once your set of 5 (+2) certificates expires.

My concern is more about if it is worthy to keep it current and if yes, what approach to choose especially if not supported by employer.

that is a hard question, it depends on whether or not you would want to get another job or other employer.

If your employer does not see the need for it, and you want to stay with the current employer. May be not.

So it is a career future related question.

Dear @JG_Kootstra

You should take your RHCSA then move onto your RHCE.  If you are lucky your employer will reimburse you for the cost of your RHLS.

I stopped trying to pursue my RHCE 8, as I do not have any experience using Ansible. I wait and see what the RHEL 9 curriculum will bring me.

Still I am not the person asking for advise, and it is about RHCA, not RHCE.

I do the trainings I need, and for now stick with RHCSA, as that is only required at my current employer.

Here is a little known fact:

if you go to your local library and get a library card you then have digital access to orielly.com learning through your local library. You then can watch all the videos pertaining to Ansible, RHCSA, RHCE and more and then take the exams and stay current.  

It is also a great resource for finding alternative information on taking and passing the Red Hat exams. 

Do not ever loose hope and do not be discouraged.  Please choose to constantly learn.

Thank you for this interesting tip, but the question is more about if it is worthy to keep RHCA (Red Hat Certified Architect) = 5+ exams current.
