does ex180 still count for architect path?

Jump to solution

ex180 has been retired and replaced by ex188. Does anyone know if ex180 still count in the architect path?

Yes. The EX180 counts towards the RHCA path. If you have a voucher and can take/pass the exam, it will count as one of the five (5) needed for RHCA. Even after the exam is retired, it still counts towards the RHCA until your exam expiration (certificate of expertise) date.

At this point that is not true. The OCP courses have been re-aligned on the Administration side, so it is solely teaching administration concepts now as part of the DO180 course. Think of the OpenShift certification track to be just like the RHCSA courses where DO180 would be now equivalent to a RH124 where there is no official certification. The certification for RHCSA goes with the RH134 (EX134) exam. What they had done for a while is a PE124 (which is a preliminary exam), but that was to test people's knowledge about the course without conveying any type of certification or certificate of expertise.

Hope that helps,

I would say no here. The DO188 gives a great introduction to containers and what they are and how they are built. You will be leveraging Podman quite a bit in the DO188 course building, creating, modifying containers and container images. This is to prepare you for the developer courses and get you better ready for a DO288.

The course can help give a great understanding of containers, however, if you are wanting to get the OCP Administration certification, a lot of the stufff you will need about OpenShift administration is contained now in the DO180 course and the DO280 has some additional more advanced topics. The DO180/DO280 are focused on administration while DO188/DO288 are focused on OCP development and container image ceration.

I have heard that EX180 is coming back for OpenShift 4.12. Is that true?

Ahh I see. That makes sense. So a DO280 would kind of be like the RH134, then? And also, if I take the DO188, would that be sufficient for the DO280 or should I also take the DO180?

Hi @istrate ,

Thanks for reaching out !

  1. If you have already cleared EX180 and is valid till certain date - it will be counted towards RHCA till that date.
  2. If you already have a voucher / exam for EX180 ( which is not expired yet ) , you can take the exam and if you pass it - your EX180 cert will be counted towards RHCA.
  3. Other than the above two conditions , EX180 is not available as of now for purchase and is retired.
  4. There is no official communication / plan ,as of now, that EX180  will be relaunched anytime soon.

Hello @Chetan_Tiwary_, is that the reason why I cannot launch de lab environment of the DO180 course? I was doing such course but I've been trying this week to do some exercises on the cluster but it doesn't start... It simply gets stuck in "Starting...". Any idea why? Thanks!

And I can't delete the cluster either... Is the course DO180 still available?
