When you boot the Remotre Exam USB, the data in it gets decrypted on the fly and expands to RAM memory, where the filesystem is created. After the boot, you are asked to remove the bootable USB stick and the entire exam live system lives from RAMDISK
Hi, you shoudl tell us more about the "not booting". What does it mean? Make sure Secureboot is disabled in BIOS. This is the necessary requirement. And the rest is about compatibility. BTW, makes no sense to post partitions of the USB stick, the filesystem of the Remote Exam ISO is encrypted, it will not be visible anyway, it is like Bitlocker, if you are familiar with it
Hi, I have just scheduled the exam today for later this month, and I am still in shock for the long list of requirements.
My first ungly surprise, I had to admit, is that there is no training facilty in Barcelona, but 3 in Madrid. I really wanted to go to location to do the exam, precisely to avoid all the remote issues...
Anyway, I have a new Windows laptop, so specs are not going to be a problem. But I cannot get why an external wireless keyboard and mouse are not allowed. Neither wired keyboard and mouse are not allowed if not using an external monitor!! (Note, if I close the lid, the camera would be useless).
Can you confirm that external wired keyboard and mouse in a laptop are not allowed, and neither external wireless keyboard and mouse?
Thanks in advance.
If you're using laptop with laptop display you're not allowed to use external keyboard and mouse. ( you've to rely on touchpad and laptop keyboard )
if you're using laptop with external monitor with laptop lid closed, you're allowed to use external wired keyboard and wired mouse. You need additional two 2 USB camera.
Also Redhat recommends LAN connectivity.
I still have no clarity if we can use WiFi along with LAN as secondary/backup internet connection in case of primary LAN failure.
@rhel_since_3 If you're using laptop with laptop display you can still use external wired mouse if you want to but not the extenral wired keyboard.
If you want to use external wired keyboard with laptop, laptop lid has to be closed and you need to use external wired mouse and monitor in that case. And in this case, there is no need of using 2 USB cameras mandatorily. Only 1 USB camera is good enough. If you have 2 USB cameras and both are working fine, well and good. But it is not mandatory to use 2 USB cameras in this case.
We always recommend wired connectivity as it provide better stablity against WiFi. However, candiates can take the exam with WiFi connection as well.
Yes, you can use WiFi as backup for wired(LAN) connectivity
Thanks, not the way I wanted, but no option if I want to do the exam.
Cheers,
Ana
My notebook has three USB ports. I would like to know if during the exam I can use the following format?
1 USB - webcam
1 USB - wired mouse
1 USB - bootable image
And keyboard built into the notebook
Hi @Auria ,
Yes, That appears to be the most feasible option for your device.
Please run the compatibility test to check the functionality of the webcam, mouse, and keyboard before attempting the exam.
Best Regards,
Red Hat
