IP Webcams and all other arrangements that would leverage a cellphone into a Webcam are a No currently.  One of the key policies of a remote exam as well as a testing center exam is that the cellphone of the candidate must not be in the vicinity, or switched off.
If you walk into a Testing Center, the local point of contact would help with safekeeping of your phone.

Similarly, using an earplug or headphone is not allowed either (except under special medical circumstances that are reviewed and approved in advance).
This is to ensure that we minimize the presence of any device or medium that has the potential to render help or reference materials.

Particularly with a cellphone acting as a Webcam, there are considerations such as what would you do if you get a call/message in between, security questions of how/whether we can lockout a phone completely and make it act as a pure camera and so on.  Things that might see a solution in the future, but are not part of what could be brought out to the market in a short time.
To sum it up, IP cams, cellphone cams or a second laptop's integrated webcam are all not allowed for remote exams.

I paid for exam EX300 before July 1st 2020 and am ready to schedule my test.  I have been following the news about the availability of the "remote exam" option for various exams.  I've seen lists of exams that are currently available remotely but EX300 is not on any list.   I've been all over Red Hat's website.    Can someone confirm or deny the availability of EX300 "remote exam"?   All testing centers where I live right now are closed due to Covid19 so my only option is "remote exam" for now.   The  only list of remote exams that i can find are these: EX200, EX294, EX288, EX318, EX403, e EX407.

Hi @douradoden ,

The remote version of EX300 was piloted internally and should have been available this week.
Can you try to schedule the exam here and let me know?
Please raise a ticket if you are unable to schedule it as a remote exam and the team can assist.

Hi @vishals ,

Quick one regarding that, do you know for how long will EX300 / RHEL7 exams will be available? As per the description in [1] :

--

"""The exam based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 is available via individual exams until July 1, 2020. Classroom and on-site exams for this version are available for purchase until October 1, 2020."""

--

However a bit more of clarity on that would be useful! Cheers

Hi @Fran_Garcia ,

The RHEL7 RHCE-EX300 exam is no longer available for purchase as an individual (or remote) exam. EX300 can only be taken as a remote exam by those candidates who already have an eligibility by means of a past purchase of an EX300 (V7) voucher.

If you already have an exam voucher, it is valid for one year from the date of purchase and can be scheduled and taken at any point prior to its expiration.

Hope that clarifies.

I am confused about the use of a wired keyboard, mouse, etc.

Does a laptop with a screen, keyboard, and touchpad(instead of a mouse) fine?

What is covering via a lid mean?

Hi @adharsh2208

Please read this document carefully, it will answer your questions, and more:

https://learn.redhat.com/t5/Certification-Resources/Getting-Ready-for-your-Red-Hat-Remote-Exam/ba-p/...

PS: there is no "covering via a lid", it says about closing the lid (the laptop screen), when there is another screen being used.

As for your laptop, it depends if it's the laptop screen or external screen (it's not very clear, since all laptops have a screen, I don't see the need to specify that again). If it's a laptop, you can use it with the laptop keyboard and laptop touchpad. If it's an external screen then you must close the lid, therefore the laptop screen + keyboard + touchpad won't be available and you need the external keyboard and mouse.

Cheers,

Thank you for the response. @JS_Learning

I assume - I can also use my Laptop Cam? Instead of an external webcam.

Hi @adharsh2208 ,

As I said, please read the document carefully, there is no need for making assumptions (and getting it wrong). It clearly says external webcam.

In your best interest, I want to reiterate that it's the candidate responsability to "Get Ready" when choosing Remote Exams. If not willing to do that properly, it's probably best to look for alternative, like going to a testing center with a Kiosk computer ready for you.  It looks to me, the lack of attention displayed, could result in a proctor not allowing you to attend the exam, because not complying with some the requirements. That would probably means a lost exam entitlement and frustration for everyone!

Also the exams are rather hard, for me at least, and they do require a lot of attention to the questions and what it is asked to do, just a friendly reminder or warning!

Good luck with your preparations!
