Remote exam room

Jump to solution

I’m planning to schedule the EX200 certification exam soon, and I’d like to confirm whether my current setup is suitable for taking the exam remotely.

I intend to take the exam from my bedroom, which includes a closet, bed, and my office setup (desk, chair, laptop, monitor, keyboard, and mouse). Will this environment be acceptable, or are there any restrictions I should be aware of?

Additionally, is there any AI-based tool or official pre-check method available to verify the room setup before booking the exam?

Thank you for your support.

@AhmedSenan I can tell you from my experience : I dont think there is any restriction using the bedroom for taking the exam. You just need only one laptop / desktop for the exam, the extra monitors or for eg. TV needs to be covered or lid down. Make sure the desk only contains the items needed for the exam like your laptop/desktop, mouse, keyboard.

The proctor will anyhow scan the room and will tell you to remove things if there is a need. But I will suggest to remove any thing that you may think will be objected by proctor because it will take time for scanning. Remember that, if you take a break and come back you need to again do the room scanning and the timer will not be stopped.

So, it is benefecial to keep the room light and also make sure you are connected to wired LAN.

Feel free to raise a query to the exam support for official response to such matters : https://rhtapps.redhat.com/comments

I did many exams remotely and had never any issue. I use very similar room to yours + I have two pianos, guitar and one ukulele in my room. It was never a problem.

On my desk I have my essentials - big cup of water, tic-tacs and hankie. I do show these items to proctor, was never a problem.

I always cleanup my desk (only power cord and monitor is there) and try to tidy it up a bit. My wife always smiles when she comes to my office room after exam - all clean.

@AhmedSenan Also forgot to mention that there is no AI tool to verify the room setup.

Hello @AhmedSenan ,

You are free to take your exam anywhere, including your bedroom, just make sure it is a quiet room with no people around for the duration of the exam.

A desk, chair, and laptop are allowed for the exam, as you have also mentioned (monitor, keyboard, and mouse) if you will be using an external setup connected, meaning an external wired monitor, wired keyboard, and wired mouse connected to the laptop. Then you can go with the setup. Please note, you will also need a wired external webcam for the exam.

If you wish to take the exam only on the laptop, then any additional monitors may be covered or removed from the desk.

There is no official AI or pre-check before you book the exam, but there is a pre-check done by the proctor once you have accessed the exam. If there are any items that are not allowed or if you are good to go, the proctor will help you during the room scan.

You can check out this link for videos for a better understanding of how to prepare the exam environment.
