Hi all,
My RHCSA remote exam is scheduled within the next 24 hours, and the required compatibility test failed on my system.
Laptop: Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 (Windows, UEFI-only)
Followed Red Hat instructions carefully
Tried extensive troubleshooting (Fast Boot, Secure Boot/PXE settings, multiple USB-A drives, Fedora Media Writer, F12 + Novo button)
USB is detected in Windows, but firmware only shows Windows Boot Manager
Appears to be a firmware/UEFI limitation on this model
Red Hat’s guidance says that if the compatibility test fails within 24 hours, do not cancel and contact their team — which I’ve done.
My questions:
What’s the best move when the exam is <24 hours away and the compatibility test fails?
Has anyone successfully taken RHCSA on an IdeaPad Slim 3?
Should I wait for Red Hat support to reschedule, or try to switch to another machine?
Any advice from people who’ve been through this would really help. Thanks.
Hi @jpan ,
This model commonly has UEFI/firmware limitations that prevent booting the Red Hat Remote Exam LiveUSB, If you can switch to a different laptop and pass the compatibility test, take the exam as scheduled. Else You can raise a service ticket to certification team at:

You can even reach out to Live chat support at
https://www.redhat.com/en/services/certification/exam-preparation
and use the chat widget at the bottom right corner of the screen to start a live chat with support.
