Helping our customers, partners, and communities utilize technology in times of massive transformation is what we do and who we are as an organization. To help with your skills transformation during this time, we want to make learning OpenShift accessible from wherever you are. Red Hat Training and Certification is offering the self-paced, online Introduction to OpenShift Applications (DO101) course at no cost until June 30, 2020.

Red Hat Training enables you to spend less time deploying applications- and more time developing them

Immediate access to information across multiple channels has resulted in an era of fast-paced, user-driven demand and the need for accelerated application time to market. Once deployed, these applications must be portable, secure, easy to scale, and simple to manage. Organizations are turning to containers and Kubernetes to meet these needs. This need has led to the emergence of DevOps practices as a key way to accelerate digital business innovation.

Red Hat OpenShift includes everything needed to meet your team’s objectives by enabling a high velocity DevOps pipeline, leading to faster, dynamic application deployments. It includes an enterprise-grade Linux® operating system, container runtime, networking, monitoring, container registry, authentication, and authorization solutions. These components are tested together for unified operations on a complete Kubernetes platform spanning every cloud.

While the promise of container-based architecture is compelling, the road to container adoption can be complex. To gain the full benefit of containers, you need a flexible program that incrementally delivers a modern, container-based infrastructure—with the necessary organizational process changes. Red Hat facilitates an phased approach to container adoption, progressing from proof-of-concept to high value early projects and then to operating at scale in full DevOps fashion.

Take Introduction to OpenShift Applications free today

Introduction to OpenShift Applications (DO101)  is designed to respond to the need to quickly and easily learn the basics of how to deploy container applications. This course is the first step in the container adoption journey for novice container application developers. This course teaches any developer, regardless of Linux technical skills, how to take their applications from their laptops into the cloud with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform.

This one-day course provides the following value to developers

  • Manage application source code with Git
  • Develop applications with VSCode
  • Deploy an application to OpenShift
  • Update an application
  • Configure application secrets
  • Scale an application
  • Troubleshoot and fixing an application

The free offering for this self-paced course gives you 30 days of unlimited access to both the HD video classroom version recorded by an instructor and the text-based learning format. Additionally, you will receive 10 hours of hands-on lab time to help you build skills on real-world use cases.

This offering is part of a global effort to encourage developers to learn the fundamentals of OpenShift. This course is designed for developers with experience in application development and object oriented programming. Using your own device, this one-day course will teach you how to deploy and update applications in an OpenShift 4 cluster and use the OpenShift 4 web console to build, deploy, troubleshoot and scale applications.

We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity by starting your learning journey today.

Hi RH - Can you please clarify, if we should be able to do the RH certification exam also free of cost during this covid and not just the training?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Kowshik - thank you for being a member of our Red Hat Learning Community - Red Hat has quite a few initiatives to support Red Hat learners and customers during this time:

Free Learning Opportunities

Red Hat Training and Certification COVID-19 Response

Virtual Summit 2020 (recordings can still be accessed even though the event has concluded)

Two courses for the price of one

Virtual classroom capabilities

Hopefully this points you to a few great resources that can support your personal skill development goals!  Please let us know if you have any other questions here.

Thanks,

Thanks, @Deanna for the quick response.

I would like to do this course on openshift https://servicesblog.redhat.com/2020/04/08/take-introduction-to-openshift-applications-for-free/ .

However, I am not sure if this course is included with the FREE certification exam as well(Through Online proctoring exam or later in physical exam centers as RH is still trying to work out on the virtual examination setup)?

So that we can have the badge to my Linkedin profile to measure what Engineers have really done during this situation and which gives real visibility.

Kowshik - the course does not prepare a student for a certification exam. It is a one-day introduction designed to teach a student how to deploy an application into a container and deploy to OpenShift. Students wishing a deeper understanding and potential certication should consider DO180+DO280 (Admin track) or DO180+DO288 (Developer track)

Thanks for the course. Almost have finished. :)

It was a little bit sad that the course was available for 30 days and not until June 30th. Had to skip other classes so that could make this one.

@jnr25 we appreciate the feedback - we set the limit to 30 days intentially so our learners could consume the course free of cost.

Please let us know what you think of DO101 - if you wish to continue learning OpenShift, you can reference the Red Hat OpenShift learning path here - where you can explore additional courses and exams that complement Introduction to OpenShift Applications (DO101). On top of that, we also have our Containers, DevOps and OpenShift discussion board in this community, were OpenShift learners can ask questions as they progress through course material or use OpenShift on the job.

i'm midway through the course - but for an introduction course it has been very useful for me.. If only to teach me the basics of VSC, using VSC with GIT locally and on the web (Github) - plus seeing how auto deployment of applications work.

Hi @Deanna

I was able to start the course yesterday. Today as I login, I am not able to continue.

Capture1.PNGIf I click on report, I am at 24% completion. If I use search and put DO101, it show me the course. When I clicked on the online training link, it complained "We are sorry, this content is not available."

This happened to me on MacOS yesterday, when I wanted to start the course. Finally it works on my Windows 10, and today I can't access to the course at all. Please help. Thanks!

Hello @Deanna ,

I have been experiencing zero subscription days left error. I registered for the course DO101 on 18th of May and got the email with the link to the course. However, I saw "You have 0 subscription days left" message at once, which was kept even after browser cache's reset. I sent an inquiry with the Red Hat Training & Certification support team, but still didn't get response from them back. Could you possibly help me?

With kind regards,

Dmitriy.

Very interesting topic of conversation, this free course is mentioned around the Learning Community few times already yet it seems rarely anybody manages to access that free course trouble-free. I went through the procedure of signing up for that course few hours ago, still confronted with "You have 0 subscription days left".

15 days left to take the course that has been offered for months already and has probably never been fully accessible. Thanks.
