I'm going to blatantly copy Ricardo/Will's format for this one . . . sort of . . .

Who I am:

I'm the guy that designs/shepherds the classroom environment that our courses are based on. My overriding goal has been for the continuity/singularity of courseware that operates the same way for in-person instructor led training and for self-paced students in our online modalities.

Where I'm based:

Connecticut, United States (metro-New York - NOT Boston - don't ask me about baseball/football).

My workstation:

Lenovo Thinkpad running our internal "CSB" which is currently RHEL 7.4 based, but let's be honest.... I have multiple racks of hardware....

The discipline I enjoy the most is:

Honestly, I get jazzed about hearing from instructors and students who have had a good experience with our lab environment, but I am also challenged (and enjoy) hearing about the less than stellar experiences as it keeps me moving forward!!

My favorite course to teach:

Unfortunately, I don't currently teach which is a whole *other thing* with my management, but I love getting to meet with instructors and students in person to interact and explore improvements in our environment.

My favorite toy as a kid:

Honestly, I'm old. I enjoyed playing tennis (and platform tennis/paddle) outdoors long before I learned about what a computer was, though I'm a *big* fan of Star Trek: The Original Series as a kid.

In My Spare Time, I . . .

talk with dead people.... My current favorite hobby is to do family research (genealogy). Actually I started doing this when I was only ten years old, so it has been an all-consuming hobby though my family sould call it an obsession!

Hi Everyone,

Filming in Progress.pngMy name is Jim Meegan and I am a Sr. Videographer and Editor with Red Hat Training. I produce, shoot, edit, and help deliver a lot of what you see in our Video Classrooms and Technical Overviews. I've been with Red Hat for almost 2.5 years and our videos have evolved a great deal over that time. However, we are always looking to make improvements and want to keep raising the bar! Feel free to reach out to me with comments, suggestions, and questions regarding Red Hat Training's Video Classrooms and/or Tech Overviews.

Thanks,

 ~ Jim

I'm Tracy Baker. I am a professor at Estrella Mountain Community College in Avondale, Arizona (just outside Phoenix). I am responsible for our Red Hat Academy where we teach RH124, RH134 and RH254.

Personally, I've been in the industry in almost every capacity (Architect, SysAdmin, NetAdmin, virtualization, PC break/fix, etc.) for the last thirty years. I've been a professor for the last three. I'm a veteran, serving in the US Navy as an electronics technician.

I'm excited to see this space. I truly believe that the human space is just as important as the technical space.

Hello,

I'm a newb to RHA, my name is Debra Dyer, I'm a Professor at Columbus State Community College, Columbus, Ohio [approx. 28,000 students.]  I'm the Lead for the Information Technology Support Technician [ITST] Program.  There are about 400 students currently in the program.  ITST technical courses are tied to A+, Network +, Security +, and Linux Essentials.  I'm currently using Raspberry Pi's to facilitate hands-on experiences for the students.

Prior to entering Academia, I was a Network Admin for the State of Ohio.  My first Cert was Novel.  ;-)   I'm looking forward to seeing how to incorporate Red Hat into the Curriculum.

First of all, thanks for this awesome initiative!
I'm based in Stockholm Sweden but travel and operate in many regions, both for business and pleasure.
I've been in the IT business for ~20 years, consulting in storage, backups, unix/Linux, architect, trusted advisor, risk assessment, team building, etc. Currently focusing on software defined storage.

My favorite training is Ceph-125, and the Ceph Break & Fix class.

I'd love to contribute with my thoughts and knowledge and I'm sure I'll learn a lot from my peers in this forum too.

Sharing is caring!
