My name is Marc Richter, I've been with Red Hat as an employee since 2015 but was a Linux engineer using their fine stuff for a few years prior. Ok, more like a decade. I feel old sometimes.
My day job is Senior Technical Account Manager. Essentially, I'm a subscription that helps my 5 or so accounts use their Red Hat products better. I've blogged about that --> https://www.redhat.com/en/blog/being-technical-account-manager-tam-day-life
When not working, I play all sorts of games. Computer games, board and card games, a weekly D&D campaign...games are awesome.
When not working or playing games, I'm a Scout leader...my son is a few requirements away from getting his Eagle, so that's cool.
I've been married...well, let's just say for a long time. Two of my daughters are in college, both doing better than I did. My wife and I also decided that 3 dogs and a cat needed to be added to the household, because 4 kids wasn't enough. We might be kinda dumb.
Glad to be here.
Who I am:
I'm a long time sysadmin and I don't know the exact timing anymore, but I was one of the earliest RHCE's though I let it lapse a long, long time ago. I currently work at Red Hat in IT supporting our email and other collaboration tools.
Where I'm based:
Raleigh, NC
The discipline I enjoy the most is:
I'm all about security and automation. I like making my life easier.
My favorite toy as a kid:
I was all about action figures, mostly Star Wars, but micronauts were also common. Before that it was the large scale G.I. Joe's, Six Million Dollar Man, and Star Trek figures.
In My Spare Time, I . . .
I sing (karaoke, in my car, to my cat), I play guitar, I perform improv both shortform and longform, and I play D&D.
Hi folks, I am a Senior Consultant with Red Hat. I work with customers adopting our products, focusing on middleware, migration and development. While I work with Red Hat technologies every day, I would like to start giving back by contributing code upstream. That's a new world for me so I am hoping to find some guidance.
Who I am:
I am a Senior Cloud Consultant for the Mangement Practice, working with Cloudforms, Satellite and a few other products. I've been with Red Hat for 3 years, and earned my RHCA before being hired in.
I am also a pilot, and I own a 1973 Cessna Cardinal 177RG that I love flying when I am not on the road for work. I still can't figure out why Red Hat won't let me fly myself to customers, instead of using horrible commericial travel :-|
Where I'm based:
Chattanooga, TN. USA. (Home of the fastest internet around, 10gig fiber to the home!)
My workstation:
2018 Mac Book Pro 15". Vital tool as a traveling consulting when I need to work with all sorts of customer projectors, equipement, etc.
The discipline I enjoy the most is:
Automation and Mangement. Currently doing most of my work with Cloudforms and a bit of Ansible.
Highest Red Hat Certification:
Red Hat Certified Architect - Level III
