Failed RHCSA twice: it seems configuration not saved

I have been practicing redhat Linux in my virtual machine quite a lot and I am quite confident.

I felt really really bad to fail the exam twice.

It seems my node2 work was never saved in the previous exam and in this exam.
Actually I have booted the node 2 twice and I definitely saw the storage related configuration was there. But I lost all the scores for this area. Last time, I got the reply that " one of your system did not reboot to a usable state and could not be graded"

I do not know what happened. It must be a very small, but extremely critical point I have missed. This never happen in my local virtual machine environment.

Can anybody help and give your hint?

Many thanks!

In my experience it is always wise to try rebooting all of the systems in
the lab environment before completion to be sure that they do boot
correctly. I have taken the RHCSA/RHCE multiple times since RHEL4 and
troubleshooting an unbootable system has been one of the unstated
challenges more than once. Also good to ensure that any service we enabled,
throughout any of the exams I have taken, comes up after a reboot.

I agree with what @cmattern wrote , but let me add that in my case I've tried
to reboot both nodes to verify persistence of my modifications, but still due to
some bug some score was not calculated, so if during the exam you have
rebooted the node, and you're 100% sure that it was working keep asking the
support to review your case, that's how mine has been reviewed.

Hope this helps

I failed my exam today, I did all the tasks and I's pretty sure that 90% are ok, but I had a 0% in 4 groups, even in managing users, that's a nonsense I'm LPIC-2, the users and groups tasks are the easiest, how I can fail this? I think the node1 wasn't graded, also the network on node1 were restored every reboot, I don't know why but the other tasks were working fine, I's waiting for RH response.

@Rickylois your configuration must persist reboot and also it is possible node1 was not recoverable because of configurations done on it and hence while grading it didnt come up ( because all systems are rebooted prior to grading ).

Also, small things like spellings, cases and target servers are important and have to be 100% accurate in order to get marks. For example, user John and john and J0hn are all 3 different users and you have to configure the exact thing asked in the question. I have seen many learners claim they did everything correctly but they missed on these small looking issues and also for many, their configuration did not survive reboot - hence they could not pass.

Since you have already raised a case with exam support - please wait for their response.

Yeah I know this and I reboot the node1 several times, also user and group creation is persistent always, I don's think I've mispelled anything, but I'll wait for the support team response. As I said I have experience doing this tasks that's why the so low grade makes me think on a failure of the system grade. There was a problem the previous week setting up my exam, and maybe something isn't fixed yet.

Alright, lets wait for the exam support to give any info on this.

hello @Rickylois,

I agree with what Amirah and cmattern wrote, itseems also that you know what you're doing,
let me add that in my case the support was initially not helpful, they just reported again that the score was poor, only after a lot of complains someone found that the scoring mechanism had a bug so my 2nd vm was not calculated in the score.

In my case the second time I rebooted like 6 times per vm and in order to avoid mispells I cut&pasted everything I could, so I could not believe that I'd scored so low.

So crossing fingers for you

have a nice one

M.

thank you @Shertster , I may have done some things wrong, but not to receive such score, also the 0% on user management it's impossible.
